At least it isn't dramatic like it was last year, everybody pretty much expected it.
Although Northridge did give DeKalb a pretty good run in taking best vocals (although I haven't seen the sheets, was it really close or did DeKalb take visual by a landslide?), I think everyone knew DeKalb would win. Any opinions on whether or not they should be in small aside, they always put on a great show, and as a choir, I couldn't really complain about any lack of technical merit. Northridge sounded great, and deserved that caption, but DeKalb had visual, no question at all.
Just because we expected it doesn't make it any less ridiculous and crooked. Small mixed division State was nothing more than a grab for more trophies from the beginning... It's just as bad in Large Mixed.
At this point there is nothing that ISSMA could do to get me to support this contest again. Well I guess they could, but it won't happen until the actual board changes...

DeKalb is gonna come in, blow away the entire field, and start yet another discussion on why they even bother to compete in Small Mixed when they are obviously Large Mixed caliber.

Good Luck to all the competing Show Choir's,and Congrat's for making it this far! It's going to be one super great day watching so many talented young Ladies & Men perform!
I've seen many of the Finalist's perform through out this Season and they all are going to be fierce Competitor's! (Especially in the Women's division!)
I'm going with "The Family" in the Mixed division! Unbelievable would be an understatment! =)
BEST OF LUCK TO EACH & EVERYONE OF YOU! MAY YOU ALL HAVE A VERY SAFE & AMAZING SHOW!..BUT MOST OF ALL,ENJOY YOURSELVES &.HAVE A SUPER FUN DAY,YOU'VE EARNED IT! =)
Northridge is proud to be competing again this year - congratulations to both Starlights (women's) and Northern Lights (mixed)! Looking forward to seeing the 'Lights shine on the ISSMA state stage!
There are some choirs this year who I thkn could potentially fight their way up this yaer. Rumors have said that Norwell may compete at state this year! But, its just hearsay. I haven't heard a whole lot about DeKalb this year, which means nothing except that I haven't heard much. I'm sure they are fantastic as usual! Can't wait to hopefully catch them this weekend at Carrol.
sorry jared norwell is NOT competing at state this year. we will be attending Finale Nationals in New York instead.

I heard next year state is going back to one class with all groups.
