I can't even begin to say how thrilled I am to start seeing a growing presence of show choir in upper New England states!!! There are amazing things happening in Mass, Connecticut, and even into Rhode Island and Maryland a little bit. GREAT JOB MAINE!!!! KEEP GOING AND KEEP GROWING!!!!!!!!
The performance list of attending choirs is now posted. I also added in the awards which I could dig up. I posted a longer explanation back in the 2019 Maine State Festival thread, so check that out if you'd like a bit more context about this event.
This year's edition of Maine's state show choir festival appeared to be non-competitive in nature. They did not do evening finals or placements, but did still do ratings based on their scoresheet and spotlight captions for choreography and soloists. I said this back in 2019, but it bears repeating. While Maine show choir is truly unique and distinct in and of itself, there were still pretty traditional themes like Waitress, Greatest Showman, a Queen tribute show, and various others. Just to compare and contrast, below are two linked videos. Hermon "Treblemakers" is only 6 singer/dancers, but still had a lovely performance. There's also Mount Desert Island, a traditional Maine powerhouse, who did a show that was completely designed, choreographed, and composed by their own students. Incredible, really.
