Can some one please put iowa city west's show on YouTube or give me a link to watch it? Ahahaha but really their show is my favorite show I have EVER watched in my like 10+ years of being around show choir.

http://youtu.be/KpYFqmt18gE here it is! This is actually our whole swing show, but the very last ~16 minutes is Goodtime's show!

I attended the finals performances last night and I have a couple of thoughts that have been going through my head since the last performance. As I've been able to see four of the six finalists already at previous competitions the two I was seeing for the first time really impressed me (Muscatine and Waconia). I LOVE Muscatine's show design this year, I felt it so easy to get caught up in the emotion of the show and it really got to me when things shifted to their ballad. As for Waconia I was impressed seeing parts of their show online and it's safe to say I was even more impressed in person. That guitar soloist was insane!

Thank you so much!

My kids were so happy that they received the chance to perform their show twice. This competition was so intense... Finals was beyond cool! Every group just came out during the night with such an amazing spirit. It became less about the competition and more a celebration of talent and the hard work of everyone involved.

Iowa City West's vocals and message shot a direct bullseye to every heart in that 2,400 seat auditorium- day and night... and their vocals... WOWZA.

Linn Mar gave us some amazing moments of a perfect blend of band and vocals paired with a great DREAM journey.

Cedar Rapids Kennedy's show gave us some fantastic variety paired with energetic choreo and some tight vocals- Jack Sparrow would be proud.

Totino Grace gives us all a lesson in the power of individual performers... you can look in all directions of the stage during any moment in their show and find a triple threat giving 150% like a pro.

Waconia's vocals, choreography, show design, band, performers, costumes, and overall show message is just incredibly INSPIRED. It's a joy to experience this phenomenal show. I want to see it over and over again.

I've been to EVERY Great River since 2003. The first three as a host from Davenport West (my alma mater)... many after as a spectator... and now the last two as a director of a competing group. Nothing beats this invitational. Great Hosts - Great Music - Great Experience... GREAT RIVER.

See y'all in 2016!

Congrats to ALL the groups who performed and competed here on Sat!

In a line up as hard, and as competitive as it was, everyone was a winner here! What a fantastic job everyone did yesterday!

My fav part was watching how much support so many directors, parents, and students had for each others programs and shows!

Congrats again to all, and shout out to my kids from Linn Mar, Waconia, Iowa City West, and Muscatine!
YOU MADE ME VERY PROUD!

Special shout out to the group of guys from Totino who sat behind us and were so fun and so complimentary to many other groups!
Another shout out to Mama Tammy from CR Kennedy- always fun to see you and chat!

Who got best soloists?

Keanna Knutons from cedar rapids kennedy. She's the one who sings the solo before renegade

One this is clear, whatever that girl wanted during Kennedy's A CAPELLA ballad when she screamed "GRANDMA" on one of the rests, she probably got the thing she was screaming about lol

Pretty sure Grandma gave her a muzzle. haha

You do realize that Sauk Prairie has made finals (scoring wise. They had to leave early in 08) at Great River every year they've gone until this year, right?

Agreed.

I love Sauk Prarie. They have some very impressive moments pertaining specifically to soloists and one great dance break in dance of the robe. Their vocals were just not consistent today at all. They're wonderfully committed performers- but they just didn't have the whole package. I heard only one judge out of four had them in finals.

Nor do I claim that there should be. But the point is that Sauk puts on a real show aimed at the audience, not the judges, and gets punished for being different.

I'll second the point that Sauk had the audience going crazy, but I'll also second the point that that's not necessarily the point. I actually loved their show, which is rare for me. I also thought north had a very good show. I think the fact of the matter is that show choir is a complete package sort of deal. Entertaining shows are definitely an important aspect but the show also has to hit on so many different levels. It was very hard for me to put pick my finalists after watching the day round, but Sauk and north weren't in it, despite their great performances. My picks were the same as the result and it was EXTREMELY hard for me to decide, as I imagine it was for the judges. And I think if anything that speaks volumes for this competition. I think it really comes down to the nitty gritty when picking from a pool of groups of this caliber. Every group today gave it everything and it showed. Given I haven't necessarily been a "spectator" for that many competitions, but I feel like the talent today was incredible. And with that, I congratulate all groups that participated and commend those that put this competition together. It's been incredible so far.

I don't think that the judges have any bias against Sauk for being an "audience" show. Examples being City west and Muscstine.

Well I would bet that you're right in that there's no scoring for "crowd excitement"....
