kay yeh... you definently took that the wrong way, she doesnt mean we say things about everyone, it means we make it a point to keep comments as a whole to ourselves. And you justproved the point ( in a good way) whether you say something positive or not there is always the chance that someone is going to take it the wrong way. So it is better to say nothing at all, rather then have some choir have something against you for it. We say congrats and good job and make positive comments about sets to members of the choirs, but other comments are virtually non existant... i hope you understand there is no rudeness of comments intended

Northern Lights: I personally really liked your show; you had a lot of energy and your ballad definitely made me cry. I could never hear soloists though - I'm sure the four guys singing Candyman would have been a lot funnier if I could have heard them. I hope you guys come back next year!

Did you mean jefferson? Our group was the one that did candyman...unless NSP is too, but I couldn't watch their show cuz they were right before us. I'm assuming that they don't do the exact same thing we do though ;)

And Hannah, you just really confused me, and I just confused myself, but I love you anyway, haha.

I'm not sure I understand that I understand that post, but I just wanted to clear up what I meant by that... as now I see it could be taken the wrong way. I try to make sure nobody says anything, even constructive criticism, towards other choirs because anything can be taken the wrong way if the wrong person hears it. It's sometimes hard not to say your opinion... even if it's not anything mean. You might not realize it.

Also, this site is now an addiction. I have a feeling I'm going to have to cancel my account in like 2 days because I don't think I can handle reading everyone's opinions about everyone else. Even if they're positive... it's just weird, you know?

Thanks, Andy! Well summed. Alex Lenort and I (Hannah Holman) say hi and we love you! haha

Thanks for everyone who's commented on our show, it's very nice and helpful. We all had a lot of fun at this competition; there was so much tension and wonder going on throughout the day! It was really cool, and at the same time, kinda anguishing to try and figure out what was going to happen in the end. Congratulations to everyone on all of your shows; there was a lot of talent there yesterday!

And one thing about Kennedy---don't think that they're rude, because they're very nice people! I'm sure they were VERY excited to win their first competition this year, especially after the past few, and the last thing they wanted to do was come off to be rude. They merely had a large amount of supporters there. After all, winning at that level takes some getting used to, and if 4 years have passed, none of them have been around long enough to remember what it's like to win like that....The most you can do is be happy for them! (Like if the Twins actually came through in their season last year and won the world series!! lol )

I'm excited to see you all again throughout the year.

Its ok to be happy and cheer and be excited, but you have to do it in style... as Ana always says, You never know who is listening. Say all you want, but wait until you get on a bus away from everyone.

Yea, we always make it a point not to talk about anyone while we are at the competition. I spend the entire day hushing people, haha. We actually really pride ourselves on that aspect, so I'm a little confused. Also, I know it doesn't seem like it but all this talk about being excited to beat Totino is meant as a compliment. We felt so privileged to be a part of a competition with SO many amazing groups. I often think of my own group as not even on the same level as groups like Hastings, Totino and Bemidji. It's so unreal. We all idolize those groups so much.

Congrats to Rhythm In Gold for being GC!
Congrats to everyone else too!

Yesterday's competition had some really great show choirs there. I absolutely love that guy's voice from Rhythm in Gold, the ballad soloist. Sounds like Josh Groban. LOL =)
Your car wash soloists were amazing too! You have a show this year!

Totino - Your show was quite entertaining too. I LOVE the girls' costumes. And the girl that got best soloist was really good too! Great show!

Thanks for everyone's comments on NL. Yeah, we're pretty disappointed, but seeing everyone else ROCK THE STAGE, you can not deny that you all didn't deserve it too. It was fun seeing everyone's show! =)

OH and thanks to the people at Memorial High. It was a really great set up and everything. =) And my hosts were really fun.

Shoot, I wanted to comment on this thread... but now I feel a little redundant for doing so.
I just spent like 20 minutes reading from post 1 to the end and I just feel like I have so much too say I can't even remember all of it.

First of all, I'm also from Bloomington Kennedy's Rhythm in Gold.
I would just like to say... that I am very impressed at the positivity and enthusiasm of most of these posts. It's very refreshing. I was a little scared that it was going to be a bunch of big-haired divas bashing eachother. You never know. Props to every one of you!

Second, I realize there's a little negativity going around about the awards ceremony. I'd like to first extend an apology to every single one of the members of Company of Singers. It was DEFINITELY not our intention to 'steal your thunder' or keep you from the stage.... or anything that happened. Personally, I was SO worried about what you guys would think if we all started screaming. But, another part of me was just like OH MY GOSH! We ACTUALLY DID IT! I'm pretty sure I was so much more in shock than any of the other choirs. We were just like..... what?? Seriously??!
(I also apologize for the lengthyness of this post, haha. I tend to be long-winded at times.)
I was the representative of our choir on stage to accept the trophy and I really made it a point to shake the hands of your representatives and be as polite and courteous as possible. Please don't think we were intentially trying to put you down.

I was saying to the person next to me the whole time "I don't care what place we get because.... we rocked that set." I was just so proud of us because we took one amazing first outing and bumped it up even more for finals. We've worked so hard and overcome so many obstacles. It feels good to have something to show for it. It kind of hurts when a lot of people think we don't deserve it. But, I completely understand where everyone is coming from.

I feel like I have so much more to say, but I'll stop now, haha. For all of your sakes.

I am in complete shock. And so proud of my group. As well as all of the other groups om the competition.
Now, we have a LOT of work to do.

Hello Everyone I'm from Bloomington Kennedy and first I want to thank Eau Claire for hosting such an aweomse competition last night.
And as far as "Bloomington Kennedy-although I felt your show was incredible, I was slightly put off by your group celebrating so much (when you realized you won) that Brian could not get on stage to receive our trophy. You have incredible talent, and you deserve some props, but wait for the appropriate time."

I'm really sorry, its just, we haven't won in 4 years, so it was an absolutely incredible experience and of course we're gonna go crazy. We had so much bad things happen last year, and we were the underdogs who no one noticed or cared about and to come and win it. just wow. I am still in shock. All the other choirs were absolutely incredible and to be able to even compete against them in finals is a huge honor. Congrats to all the groups, you were phenomenal. I can't wait for next weekend.

a few thoughts...

Hastings-well, I love you all. the set is pretty kickin and your ballad was very beautiful. other than that, i'll see you all next weekend!

I can understand why you would be upset with our celebrating, but you also have to realize we arn't used to winning.. it sounds bad but it's really true. We haven't been grand champion in a loooooooong time and with how many struggles we have gone through in the past 3 years between Choreographer changes, members acting up, and our Competetions being cancelled, it's really exciting for us to win. there was no intentional "overreacting" and I don't feel it was an inappropriate time. It's always like that when you win, you wanna celebrate with your friends. You guys did an awesome job in your show and i really apreciate your honesty about everything, Good luck with the rest of your season

I personally agree with everyone around here saying that we desreved our spot...there were amazing groups at the comp.Although, I am upset about where we placed, but I understand why. There is a lot of things we need to clean, that is partly because of our choreography, it's very difficult and fast. Vocally wise, we need to work on singing out, but not belting it....and choreography doesn't exactly allow us to sing as loud as we can while making it sound good, ex-body rolls, and bending over when we're supposed to be singing.
But, to other NL members, remember that every year Peg gives us a choice of having easier choreography to have better vocals, or having harder more interesting choreography, knowing that we probably won't place as high...we need to strive for doing our personal best, not worrying about where we place.

And yes, we were told by our director to say "Dahnce" for Lets Dance, because everyone(parents and judges) said it was sounding too bright, but now people are over doing it.

And to everyone dissing Totino, that's just ridiculous! I'll admit, I'm jealous of them, but that's because I know that they are very good both choreographically and vocally wise. Whenever I talk to someone from Totino, they are nothing but nice and polite! So, please, before you make a judgement about someone, or a group, talk to them first. How would you feel if groups started chanting "___(you group's name)____ didn't win, ____(your group's name)_____didn't win!"... You'd be really upset and hurt!

Thankyou to everyone who have said nice things to us, and also to those that have told us what they personally think we can work on, it really helps!

"Furthermore, it's odd to me that people around here love it so much when we don't win- simply because we go to difficult competitions and have a difficult show- so quite frankly, we don't win all that often. Nor is it our singular focus to do so. Our show is a continuing work in progress, as our students develop their musical knowledge and abilities, as well as their performing abilities. Our goal is to perform the show to its fullest potential and grow as musicians and performers. I don't quite get why that puts a huge target above our heads. Trust me everyone, if you're doing this whole show choir thing because you want to win, there are MUCH BIGGER fish to fry around this country than Totino-Grace. We do well and work hard, but we aren't at the top of this game, nor have we ever been- we're working just like all of you are."

I'm not trying to create drama or anything but I felt like that comment was directed towards Memorial. The Memorial Show Choirs "around here" do not hate Totino-Grace. There are specific people who make stupid comments but to make that appear as if that reflects Memorial people as a whole is misguided. I personally love your show this year and know that you guys work hard just as we at Memorial do. I apologize for the behavior of those choir members who didn't uphold the image we wanted them to but please realize that doesn't reflect the Memorial Choirs as a whole.

Thank You.

I don't think she meant Eau Claire choirs, because Totino receives a lot of negativity wherever they go. I think they meant "around here" as the tri-state area.

Yea, I'm so excited that I can't get to sleep (even though I should be dead tired), so I thought I'd cruise SCC to see what people were thinking about this comp. I really have no idea what's going to happen for results. We were surprised at Milton, so really anything could happen. Who knows, a group that no one expects to even get into finals could win. I've learned not to take the predictions on here completely to heart, because if you do, it might cause you to feel over-confident (I'll admit I was a little over-confident at Milton), and that only hurts the group. Anyway, good luck to everyone! I know that there will be some AMAZING shows to see, and everyone will put out all they got on the stage, I just know it.

Katy

katy, you are like a psychic! good call.

well anyway, i had a good time yesterday. i didn't get to see 2 many groups, cuz we were running all over the place. prob. the funniest thing yesterday was when we hadn't had time to eat and we were 1st in finals... i'm pretty sure everyone was shoving anything and everything into their mouths that looked edible... BLEH!

i did see jefferson both in daytime and finals. you guys are so good this year! i was really impressed. (ps, this is john, one of your roomhosts from tg last year (the tall one))

i did see hastings again after seeing you guys @ viterbo. it was so much better the 2nd time around. you guys might have the best ballad this year.

i also saw kennedy. again, you guys have come SO far from last year. it was a really good show. @ first i thought it was kinda like the history of transportation with the covered-wagons and grease-lightning, etc. anyway... congratulations! i guess we'll be seeing each other again this coming saturday @ hastings. it's gonna be a real tough comp. for everyone.

did fort atkinson get best male soloist? i heard your ballad during finals in the cafeteria, and it was incredible. i'm assuming he did?...

again, thanks for a great competition, and thanks for keeping the negative comments to a minimum.

I would have rolled it like this

1.BKen - Choreo
2.Totino - Vocals
3.Hastings
4.BJeff
5.Fort
6.Holmen

So it was almost the same. I thought (note I'm no judge so don't take anything I say to heart) Kennedy had more energy during the night show which put them on top. I thought Totino sang beautifully and well. I didn't really get the novelty peice, but I probably will next week at Hastings... Fort's show took till late Monona Grove, early Winterfest to really grow on me. I didn't watch Totino during the day because I knew everyone else was going to watch them! (Good time to eat~) And I knew they'd be in finals, so. I watched 'em then.

Great Job Everyone!!

Bloomington K-I never got to see your show! I was so upset about that so I hope to see it some other time in the season. I did get to see your props though and they looked really cool!

Bloomington J-Great show I love the beginning of it!! I thought that the costumes for candy man were just perfect...great show!

Totino-Man to be honest I was planning on you guys to win! Very great show! I LOVED the stuff that girl and the chicken song! The chicken song soloist was great! Very funny! Just a bit of advice...when you are brining in the whole new set of risers make sure they are all hooked up because its distracting when techies have to be constantly fixing them. Also great idea about adding the lights to the show at finals! That really adds suspense to your show because you don’t know if there are going to be any other cool things coming out either!! But besides that great show!!

Chippewa-great show! You guys were really clean and your vocals were good! Just some advice though. Make sure everyone has facials during the whole show and make sure you have continuous energy during the whole show. That’s what I thought was lacking but besides that very clean show!

Altoona-I love your shows always! Very entertaining! I love the novelty selections you always have!!! Great job!

Fort-You guys have really kicked up your show from the beginning of the year!! Along with Chippewa make sure everyone keeps up the facials. Very clean show though!! Great Job!

Eagle-The first time to see your show! Very clean for a prep group and I love you ballad I can’t wait to see how you do at a comp! Great Work!

Holmen Prep-great job ladies! Also a very clean show and I love the ballet bars!! Good job!

Hastings Riverside-Great job like always...I am a devoted fan! Your show always rips my heart out!! Great job!!

Hastings Prep-good job girls! I love the last two country songs! You really know how to work the songs in that style. Good job!!

Old Abe-You are so lucky to have such a huge comp! It’s a great look for you guys to see what you have to deal with at Hastings! I have always loved your show! Great energy! It sounded like you band got off between you guys so maybe work on that. But besides that I love your show! Thanks for such an entertaining day!

Northern Lights-I really loved your show! I thought you guys should have made finals to be honest. I love the elastic idea. Who would have ever thought of that? That is pure Creativity!!!!! Fun FUN FUN show! Very entertaining to watch but if I would work on anything it would be your guys and girls songs...they didn’t seem to work as well as everything. But besides that great job! You guys will have a great season!

Washburn Fire & Ice-I can’t get over how much I like your show! You guys were really great actors and really got into it! Very well acting and singing! It was like being at a Broadway show! Good Job I though you should have placed in the top three!

Tomah-great show! Lots of high energy and you guys have a great sound! I didn’t like at the end how everyone had different colors going on. It was hard to tell what was going on but besides that great job!

All in All a very tough great comp! Thank you Eau Claire for keeping it so organized! I would also like to say that you had a great sound system and lighting and also I really loved how big the trophies were. Other comps have small ones and yours were just something anyone would cherish!

Great Job EVERYONE!!!! " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
