This is really different...last year we pretty much knew who'd make finals...This year...not so much. North St. Paul--I've heard good things....I dunno it'll be close.

Altoona and Fort were both at Viterbo, and Altoona went on to compete at Onalaska, and Fort went on to compete at Monona Grove. They are both looking at their third competition though. Holmen is not the same group as newton, just the same group name I'm pretty sure. (They've done Viterbo and Onalaska too)

Alright, does anyone know how Altoona and Fort Atkinson are looking this year? Is this their first competition? And Holmen is the same as Newton right? Because they're Midwest Express right? Or am I completely mixing choirs up? Why am I so retarbed? Am I asking too many questions? I'll stop....?

I thought Fort Atkinson was really good when I saw them at Viterbo. And I don't know what you're talking about with Midwest Express, but this will not be there first competition- they're 3rd one I believe.

Unnofficial Prediction:

GC: Totino Grace
1RU: Hastings
2RU: Fort
3RU: Bloomington Jefferson
4RU: Bloomington Kennedy (First competition) (Possibly Holmen or Altoona here too)
5RU: Class A Winner = I'll Guess either Holmens girls group, or one of the Bloomington Groups

Old Abe is hot this year, they are doing better than ever

It only makes sense. All of the girls from Bloomington Kennedy's prep are most likely in Rhythm in Gold which would make their group even better! Im excited to see Bloomington!!!

See I would say that yeah that makes sense, but I'm friends with alot of the girls in it, and I know some of them stayed behind from RIG to be in their prep group again because some of them just didnt want to leave ESS. But yeah, I agree some did move up, but few.

As for judging, you can expect
1. The combo judge, who is a middle school band director from one of Eau Claire's middle schools. It is the same guy each year, and his name is Steve Wells. (During finals he switches from a combo sheet to the regular sheet everyone else judges with.)
2. Denise Edwards, Eau Claire's choreographer / former broadway performer.
3. Her husband. Something(I'm thinking Mark for some reason) Johnson (I don't remember his name, again, he's been there for the last few years. He used to sing professionally and works with choirs/has a choir of his own.)
4. There is a guy from either Illinios, Indiana, or Iowa, who is a composer. I have no idea what his name is.
5. Doctor Schwartzhoff of the great music department at UW-Eau Claire has judged their for the past few years if not more.
6. Nancy Allen from Viterbo University will also be judging. (Only change from 2006 to 2007, there have been 4 judges during the prelims + combo and then 5 during the night. Now it will be 5 judges + combo judge, then 6 judges at night.)
The critique is done by Denise via tape /w her doing a voice over throughout the show. I'm pretty sure she still scores during the day though.
(If you want more information, I could dig out an old winterfest packet, the judges page will probably almost be the exact same except for the addition of Nancy Allen.)

You perform in a fairly big auditorium, it's really nice. The food is great, typical show choir food. For your information, your signature says "Eau Claire, MN" but it's Eau Claire, WI

Its's our first time here I believe and am super pumped! Hopefully our first comp in Saux Praire won't let us down!

I think what's going to be the one thing nobody guesses is what prep group is going to take Class A and go to finals. At least I don't know if one has set themselves ahead of the rest yet. We'll see! It's going to be an interesting day! Can't wait!

no, northern lights will be in sauk prairie this weekend, so eau claire will be our second

Oh yes, now I remember --- my mistake. I'm pretty sure it's Kennedy's first, though. It's great that everyone puts their schedule as their signature!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing strong performances from North St. Paul, Totino Grace, Bloomington Kennedy, Hastings, and Fort Atkinson. This sounds like a pretty close competition for finals! Any of those groups (including Jefferson) would be my picks for finals I suppose, battling it out for 5 spots.

This thread gives me the warm fuzzies " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> so much positive energy. I'm not hosting any of you guys unfortunately (I'm one of the people in charge of the room where our junk goes), but that means I get to watch all day. Less than two weeks!
