First of all, Congrats goes out to Huntington North for their Grand Championship! All of the groups in the finals did an outstanding job...the final standings were very suprising, considering what I saw from my seat. I personally do not agree with all of them but the placements were based solely on what the judges saw and liked that night. I do have to say that Teays Valley and Dekalb stepped it up the most from the day show to the night show. I feel that those two choirs did not get enough recognition at this competition as they should have. They both had the most entertaining shows of the day...due to song choice, visually, and sound. Not saying the other groups were not entertaining but Teays and Dekalb kept the audience's attention the entire time...no low points in the show.
Alot of things have been said this year about the whole "vocals vs. choreography" situation in the choir world...plainly stated...vocals are an important part of show choir....I mean you are a "choir" first...but there is also the "show" part of the whole thing. The dancing, costumes, props, set, song choice, and overall effect should count just as much, if not equal to that of vocals. I think that some groups who have average vocals but a great overall show get screwed over many times because of the whole "vocals are the most important" idea. I am sorry but going from an audience stand point...I would love to see a choir with a great show and average vocals rather than a choir with awesome vocals and a boring show. Of course that is my opinion but that is also the opinion of a lot of people that were at Carroll this weekend...the comments that were made in the audience while the final stands were being announced proved that. I will say again the Huntington North did an awesome job and they deserved that GC but it was the other five placements that I feel were a little messed up....that is my opinion though....I have seen other final standing that were more warpped then these.

dekalb and teays were very clean! so ur saying that a group that does step touches, and other simple dance moves like that should beat a group that actually has hard choreo. still think issma should rethink!

I honestly think ISSMA should rethink there scoring! Groups like Teays Valley and Dekalb get ripped off becuase there choreogprahy actually takes energy, talent, and its actaully hard! some of you may not agree with me but im just stating my opinion. Also Northrop has good choreo but not as clean as it could be! plus i had heard you guys had 4 shows that day between carroll and luers, i get tired just thinking about it!! great job to everyone

OK. first of all. its not about how much energy your choreography takes, or how hard it is....Its about doing it clean, and if you do, judges would prefer a clean show over a hard dirty show. ISSMA does not necessarily need to change their scoring.

Good job to everyone!

yesterday was very interesting!i would also like to say congrats to everyone! i was not aware of the scoring system that was used, tilll yesterday! 70% vocals and 30% choreography!! that is the stupidest thing i have ever heard of! It should be 50/50, show choir consists of two main things, singing and dancing!! if you wanted 70/30 then you should just do concert choir. I have been around the show choir world for a long time and I came to the night show performances, honestly this is was i had for placement:
GC: Teays Valley
1ru:Dekalb
2ru:Huntington
3ru:Northrop
4ru:Homestead
5ru:Brownsburg

It was a really fun competition. (Even though it did run a little less than an hour behind) The food was good. The groups were amazing. It was a really enjoyable day.

And here is a BIG thanks to our homeroom hosts for making our homeroom the coolest one at the competition. Anyone from other schools that saw our room will agree with me. It was especially useful when basically all the performers were kicked out of the auditorium because there weren't enough seats. We basically just went back to our room and chilled and watched groups from the live feed. And thanks to everybody who came and danced in our room. It was a lot of fun.

Thanks Carroll for an awesome day, great food and wonderful shows!!

Thanks to the Carroll Boosters and the many hundreds of people donating to the Enterprise Relief effort throughout the day yesterday. What a wonderful way to remind us of the precious gift of life we all share and how we can reach out to those in need even in a hard-fought competition. God Bless, Damon Brown

I believe Carroll is doing something similar to Fairfield in support of the Enterprise tornado. I'm not positive what form it will take, but I know support mechanisms will be in place at Carroll tomorrow to help. Thank you to the Fairfield competition for the idea, and I strongly encourage any contest being held tomorrow to offer a similar or creative way of raising money for the Enterprise situation. God Bless, Damon Brown

When do the concert choirs perform?
I do not see them on the schedule.

They will be performing in the small auditorium from 12:30 to 1:30.
