Tara Tober received her BA in Dance with a concentration in Jazz from the Point Park University Conservatory of Performing Arts.
She is a nationally recognized show choir choreographer, clinician and competition adjudicator. Her innovative work over the past 20 years has spanned many high school and college performing ensembles throughout 14 states. In the past decade, her work has consistently earned recognition in show design and choreography categories. She has a broad and well-rounded training, having studied under some of the greatest dance masters alive (both around the USA and abroad) for the past 35 years. Her studies have included ballet, modern, tap, hip hop, jazz, and international dance. She spent four years training and dancing in Chicago, where she was a principle dancer for the Dunco Funk Hip Hop Dance Company, and held internships with both the Gus Giordano Dance company and the Lou Conte Dance Studio - host of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. She currently resides in Northeast Ohio and is continuing to travel and design staging for show choirs and musicals, adjudicate and critique.
In addition to show choir choreography, Tara owned and operated her own dance studio for 5 years, and has taught at numerous local studios both in Akron and Chicago. She also spent 4 semesters as an adjunct faculty professor for the Kent State University Dance Department.
Tara is Artistic Director of the ETC Heid's School of Musical Arts, a community show choir based out of Akron, OH, where she co-directs 4 show choirs.
Most recently, she began serious training in competitive social and ballroom dancing - exploring West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing/Jitterbug, Lindy Hop, Hustle, Cha-Cha, Jive, Contra, Country 2-step, Argentine Tango, Salsa, Samba, Zouk, and more - with an emphasis in Rumba and Waltz. She is passionate about expanding her movement vocabulary, while maintaining integrity of technique and authenticity of dance style as it pairs with songs.
