Show Choir Community    Personnel    Semonne Strawbridge

Semonne Strawbridge
Semonne teaches voice to students of any level and any age. She teaches piano to beginners or intermediate level students. She prefers to teach students who are at least in the 1st or 2nd grade. One of her strengths in teaching is recognizing potential in students and helping them reach their potential. Her teaching style involves motivation and encouraging students to be the best they can be. Working on a piece of music teaches the student to set goals, to commit to working towards improving through self-discipline, and patience with themselves.

While at Mississippi Delta Community College, Semonne has been a voice instructor, "Ambassadors" Show Choir Director, MDCC Singers Concert Choir Director, and instructor for music appreciation and music for elementary teachers classes. She also has twelve years of experience as an Elementary School Music Instructor. She was the Chair of the Fine Arts & HPR Division at MDCC for the past 12 years. She has also produced a show choir workshop for students in grades 5-12 with nationally known clinicians. Her honors include MDCC Outstanding Humanities Teacher of the Year, Higher Education Awareness Day/Working Toward Excellence (selected by faculty and administration), Who's Who Among America's Teachers for multiple years, and served as a judge for numerous high school and middle school/junior high school show choir competition across the South and Central United Stated.

Currently, Semonne is working as the accompanist for the Homewood High School Show Choirs.
