Mike Pierson is the Choral Director at Rock Bridge High School. At RBHS, Mr. Pierson directs four concert choirs, two show choirs, teaches the Musical Theatre class and directs the fall stage musical production and is the Performing Arts Department Chair. Mr. Pierson grew up in Kansas City where he attended Oak Park High School. After high school he attended Central Missouri State University (now University of Central Missouri) in Warrensburg, where he sang in Concert and Chamber choirs and also sang in the show choir as a Vocal Music Education Major. After college, Mr. Pierson taught music (6th grade - 12th grade) in Centralia for twelve years. While at Centralia, Mr. Pierson's choirs consistently received Superior Ratings at State Music Contest and at the Six Flags Music Festival. The Centralia Concert Choir was also invited and sang in the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City. In 2004, he joined the faculty of Rock Bridge High School. Mr. Pierson has earned a Masters Degree in Instructional Technology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. In 2004 he was honored as the Outstanding Director of the Northeast District of the Missouri Choral Directors Association, and most recently, he was selected as the Outstanding High School Educator for Columbia Public Schools by the Columbia Fund for Academic Excellence in 2013. Outside of teaching music Mr. Pierson is an avid, yet average golfer. He has also served Centralia First Christian Church and Broadway Christian Church in Columbia as a part time choir director and youth worship team leader. He is married to his wife, Gina. They have twin sons, Aidan and Trevor.
