Mr. Koharchik teaches Middle School and High School Choir at Freeport Area School District. He is also the Dramatic Theater Director / Producer and Stage Manager for the district. Mr. Koharchik is a 2003 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he received his BS in Music Education, and earned his Master's Degree in Music Education from Duquesne University in 2014. Under his direction, musicals have achieved critical acclaim and have been recognized by the Henry Mancini Awards for outstanding productions. Freeport Area School District has been awarded NAMM's designation as one of the "Best Communities for Music Education" for the past four years. He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), Chorus America, NAfME, PMEA, and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Mr. Koharchik serves as the Treasurer and Secretary of PMEA District 3. He was awarded the PMEA District 3 Distinguished Service Award in 2017 and the PMEA District 3 Citation of Excellence Award in 2018. He serves as the Director of the North Hills Chorale and is the Director of Music Liturgy at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Freeport. He served in the US Army for 14 years, which included a year long combat tour in Iraq from 2004-2005. He is married to Heather Koharchik and is a proud father of his three daughters, Abigail, Emily, and Hayley.
