Liz Rossi trained with Berle Davis & Jayne Zaban in California (Stanley Kahn & Joe Tremaine technique) and received a B.F.A. from the University of Michigan’s prestigious Musical Theatre Program. Out of college, she worked as an intern to Susan Stroman on the original Broadway production of big, the musical. Around the country she directed and/or choreographed such musicals as: Crazy for You; 42nd Street; Fiddler on the Roof; Annie Warbucks; Pippin; Guys and Dolls; West Side Story (4 times!;) Mame; Camelot; The Wizard of Oz; Once on this Island; Godspell; The Full Monty, Little Shop of Horrors; Oliver, Annie, Christmas Carol…and many more. Performing credits include: “Small Purple Panda” on Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, “Elmo/Small Understudy” with the Sesame Street Live international tour, various character roles with West Virginia Public Theatre such as the tap dancing “Jennyanydots” in Cats (twice,) “Shirley & Old Woman track” in The Producers, “Female Authority Figure track” in Hairspray, and “Aunt Em” in The Wizard of Oz. Ms. Rossi has over twenty years experience teaching tap, jazz, musical theatre styles, and ballet for studios, theatre companies and theatre camps and working as a Musical Theatre coach, readying students for auditions and professional careers in New York. She also taught music for four years at the Morgantown Learning Academy, a Pre-K through eighth grade private school. Trained in the nationally renowned Leap ’N Learn™ program, she created the Tap ’N Learn™ syllabus for Beverly Spell, sold to hundreds of teachers around the world, which is now being reworked and transformed into Happy Tappers, a teacher training program. She has written a CD as a companion to her tap program and continues to write songs and musicals with her writing partner Matthew Smedal.
