Elena Maietta, originally from Albuquerque, earned a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from The Ohio State University in 2015 and a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from The University of New Mexico in 2009. She has also completed a National Student Exchange with Stony Brook University (SUNY) in Long Island, NY, and Dalcroze Eurhythmics training at Carnegie Mellon University. Her teachers have included Robert J. Ward, Kristina Caswell-MacMullen, Andrea Ramsey, Timothy Long, Leslie Umphrey, Elaine Bonazzi, and Loretta Robinson.
Elena served as a choral educator for University Baptist Church and The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, as well as St. Francis Xavier Parish, Christ United Methodist Church, Congregation Albert, and On Q Chorus in Albuquerque. In 2008, Ms. Maietta sang for a Papal audience in Sydney, Australia, with the Ukrainian World Youth Day Choir, for whom she also served as rehearsal accompanist. In 2012, Ms. Maietta conducted On Q Chorus in the World Choir Games, where the ensemble earned a silver rating in the Barbershop category. It was this event that inspired Ms. Maietta's TED Talk, "A Community of Voices: Young Women As Leaders". She previously served as Vice President of the Executive Board of the Albuquerque charity Amigos Y Amigas, Inc., and has volunteered for many other educational non-profit organizations throughout the United States. In addition to her choral pursuits, Elena's interests include cello, dance, urban farming, and her pug puppy, Mooney.
