KATIE RATHE joined the Southeast Polk Community in the Fall of 2015. Ms. Rathe conducts the Chamber Chorale, Bass Clef Choir, and is the artistic director for the varsity level Show Choir, RAMification. Ms. Rathe comes to Southeast Polk with 12 years of teaching experience in the public schools. Her most recent positions were in the Waterloo School District where she served as Vocal Music Director at Waterloo West High School and general music teacher at Kittrell Elementary School. Under her direction, the choirs at Waterloo West received division I ratings at State Large Group Contest and her show choir, West High Story, received Top Honors at several competitive events. Ms. Rathe conducted the Waterloo All City Honors Chorus in 2013 and served as non faculty advisor for the University of Northern Iowa show choir Vocal Ammunition from 2010-2012.
During her public school teaching career, Ms. Rathe has served as vocal director and choreographer for productions such as Grease, Wizard of Oz, Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma, and Godspell. Ms. Rathe was born and raised in La Crosse, WI where she attended La Crosse Central High School and was a member of the "Grand Central Station" Show Choir. She graduated with her Bachelors of Music Education from The University of Northern Iowa in 2001.
