Sandra Cryder, Professor Emeritus from James Madison University, directed the Show Choir and Jazz Choir at that institution for 25 years. Founder and director of the Mid-Atlantic Jazz and Show Choir festival, Professor Cryder was instrumental in the growth of the popularity of jazz and show choirs in Virginia. Her group, the Madisonians, toured the East Coast extensively providing concerts and workshops to budding high school show choirs. A number of singers and dancers from her group went on to become professionals and are working in New York and L.A. in the entertainment business, musical theater, stand up comedy, television and film. Her latest endeavors in retirement are serving as director of the Valley Ukulele Players, playing with the Blue Ridge Dulcimer Club and learning Old Time Fiddle.
