JENNY KINNEY is the assistant Director of Choral Music at Castle High School. She
primarily works with the all-girls show choir, Knightingales, and the new junior
varsity girls show choir. She directs after school dance/vocal rehearsals and
performances throughout the community. In addition, she assists with annual
choral concerts and competitions. Ms. Kinney studied music for 2 years at Ball
State University and is a graduate of Oakland City University. While in college she
starred as Sister Hubert in OCU’s production of “Nunsense” and as Katie
Gammersflugel in the Evansville Civic Theatre’s production of “Swingtime
Canteen.” She also performed with several select choirs and small ensembles as
well as being a guest vocalist at numerous churches in both Indiana and Kentucky.
Since graduating from Oakland City University, Ms. Kinney has been a long term
substitute choral and general music teacher at many schools around the area
including Mt. Vernon Jr. High School, Harrison High School, North Jr. High School,
and Evansville Christian School. She has also served as the choir director at Castle
North Middle School for 7 years. Under her direction this group has performed
around the community and has achieved Gold ratings at the ISSMA organizational
festival. Ms. Kinney has taught private voice and piano lessons for over 15 years,
running a studio of up to 40 students. She is a member of the American Choral
Directors Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the
National Association of Teachers of Singing. In addition to her work in the Castle
School district, Ms. Kinney is a substitute pianist at Holy Rosary Catholic Church,
and also served as the Assistant Worship Director, soloist, and pianist/keyboardist
at New Life Church in Evansville. She is currently the Interim Worship Director at
Gateway Baptist Church in Newburgh.
