Kathryn is thrilled to be part of the Waukee Vocal Music Program as associate choral director! Kathryn graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Music degree in music education and most recently graduated from Michigan State University with a Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting. In addition to public school teaching, she is involved with church music both in Ames and in the Greater Des Moines area and enjoys teaching both voice and piano lessons.
Before coming to Waukee, Kathryn taught in northwest Iowa and the Minneapolis area. She is active in the American Choral Directors Association, having served as an adjudicator for the Southwest Missouri State and Minnesota State honor choirs. She’s also a part of the National Association for Music Educators—specifically the Iowa Music Educators Association having presented at their annual conference, the Jazz Educators of Iowa, and the Technology in Music Education association.
When she’s not singing or making music, Kathryn enjoys being active—running (half marathons), cycling, sand volleyball, and paddleboard sports—and spending time with her family, all of whom reside in central Iowa. She’s a born-and-raised Iowa State Cyclone fan who avidly enjoys going to football games and basketball games up in Ames.
