Marissa Parsons received a BA in Music with a vocal performance concentration from Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina. Miss Parsons has a double minor in Education and Spanish. During her studies was a part of a two year Opera Theater production and a soloist with the Charlotte Symphony’s presentation of Mozart’s Requiem.
Miss Parsons has been teaching for over 10 years and moved to Virginia a few years ago after teaching overseas in Lima, Peru for 2 years. While living overseas she spent a lot of time sharpening her Spanish language skills and becoming more acquainted with the indigenous music and creative arts in Peru.
Miss Parsons joined James River in 2014-2015 and enjoys working with all the Chorus classes as well as serving as vocal director for the Theater on the James musical productions. Miss Parsons works to ensure all students have the opportunity and experience to be a part of Superior ranked ensemble and is proud that James River is a Blue Ribbon School of Performance Excellence for 3 years.
