Katie graduated from Missouri Southern State University in December of 2008 with a degree in Vocal Music Education, and graduated from Adams State University with a Masters in Music Education in the Spring of 2015.
Katie is the director of choirs at Carthage High School and has built a program that was barely 50 students to well over 150 students. The show choirs, Suite Sounds and Soundwave, are now known across the state of Missouri and through the Midwest as top contenders wherever they compete. The Concert Choir has received 6 consecutive 1 ratings at the state music festival.
On top of her choirs, Katie is also the music/vocal director for the fall musical and has a passion for musical theatre, dance, drama, and all aspects of the performing arts. Performance credits include "Gymnasia" in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, "Reno Sweeney" in Anything Goes!, and Spirit 3 in Mozart's The Magic Flute. Katie was selected the 2014 Golden Key recipient for outstanding teaching in grades 9-12 in the Carthage School District. She has served on the Missouri Choral Directors Executive Board, and is currently the Southwest District Choral Vice President. Katie was most recently awarded the 2016-2017 Outstanding District Director from the Missouri Choral Directors Association. Katie's professional memberships include the Missouri Music Educators and the American Choral Directors Association.
Outside of teaching, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband Brian and their dog, Ellie, along with friends and family! Exciting this year, the Crigger's are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their first daughter, Joyce Judith (our little bundle of JOY) in Mid-May!!! Also an avid baker, you can find her in the kitchen whipping up something new and interesting whenever time allows!!
