Greg Franklin is a graduate of Mitchell High School and has taught music in Mitchell County Schools since 2003. During this time, he has taught all grade levels of music, both instrumental and choral music at the high school, and was recognized in 2011 as Mitchell County Schools Teacher of the Year. In addition to the Musical Theatre Program, Mr. Franklin directs the mixed chorus and the 2014 state championship show choir.
A North Carolina Teaching Fellow, Mr. Franklin attended Western Carolina University where he earned a B.S. Ed. in Instrumental Music, a M.A. Ed. in Educational Supervision and a post-graduate certificate in Educational Leadership. In addition to National Board Certification, he holds licenses in curriculum and instruction, instructional technology and school administration.
Mr. Franklin has had the opportunity to work as musical director for the spring musicals since their inception in 2010 and assumed responsibilities as artistic director in 2014. "It is a pleasure to work with such talented students and I look forward to watching this program continue to grow both on the stage and behind the scenes."
