Jonathan Lueck has been the director of choral activities for the School District of Altoona since 2012. A native of Chippewa Falls, WI, Jon graduated from Chippewa Falls Senior High School. He received a BA in Music Education from Luther College in Decorah, IA.
While attending Luther, Jon was a member of the Norsemen (first-year men’s choir), Cathedral Choir, bass II section leader for the Collegiate Chorale, and the Luther College Nordic Choir. Other musical experiences at Luther College include participation in four annual “Christmas at Luther” performances, one of which was televised nation-wide and was awarded the prestigious Emmy award.
Jon also participated in two study abroad opportunities while in college. The first study abroad experience was a month long music appreciation course spent in London and Paris, and the second was a month long performance experience in Namibia and South Africa. While in Africa, he was a member of a 24 voice chamber ensemble that engaged in numerous choral exchanges with Namibian and South African community choirs, during which the Luther Africa Choir performed for the humanitarian, Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
When Jon is not teaching, he enjoys performing in the community, playing tennis, and spending time with family and friends.
