Deanna Amend returned to La Cueva High School in the fall of 2009. In Mrs. Amend's previous assignment as LCHS Choral Director (1996-2000,) she led the "Silverado" Show Choir to their first ShowFest Championship. Since her return, Mrs. Amend has worked with the very talented and dedicated La Cueva Choirs to create beautiful choral music and earn several awards. Most notably, the Concert Choir earned the 2014 NMAA 5A Division Champion of the NM State Choir Contest and 6A Division Champion in 2015. 5th Avenue Show Choir earned the Women's Division Championship at the 2011, 2014 and 2015 Regional ShowFest Competition and the Prep Division Championship at the 2014 Lone Star Showcase. Main Street earned the Mixed Division Championship at the 2014 and 2015 ShowFest Competition. Mrs. Amend was the District VII 2014 Nominee for New Mexico Music Educator of the Year and served as Choral Vice-President of the New Mexico Music Educator's Association. Mrs. Amend has been very happily married to Marshall Amend for thirty years.
