I played it on purpose. I was going to make the announcement but I didn't know how professional that would have been.
"ladies and gentlemen... Whitney Houston is dead. Also, don't forget to buy a tshirts and a DVD of your choirs performance in the lobby!!"
I took just over 500 pictures of groups performing on Saturday. Groups included are:
Albertville CenterStage!(prelims and finals)
Oak Grove Centerstage(prelims)
Homewood The Network(prelims)
Enterprise Encores(prelims)
If you wanna check them out add me on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com.andybearden and let me know who you are! I'm working on uploading them right now. Feel free to tag yourself and anyone else you know in them. And you're welcome to take them for your own profiles!
There was a tie in prelims between Homewood and Albertville but Homewood scored higher in vocals and therefor by rule were in first place going into finals. Finals was scored and then placed into rankings with Homewood sweeping followed by Albertville, Enterprise, Oak Grove, and Auburn.
I am petty sure Albertville was tied with Homewood, went down to vocal score and not sure why happens there. I even believe the 1/2 point difference was with this vocal score if you understand what I am saying. This competition is very good
Mr. McDonald said when he was announcing awards that the top two groups were separated by .5 points. I took that to mean that the top two groups he announced after saying that (with Homewood and Albertville being the GC and 1RU, respectively), those two were the ones separated by half a point. He also said that there was a tie in some of the other groups.
I heard him say that in the groups there was a tie between two groups and the were two groups separated by .5 points. I never heard him name groups or say what placements those two groups had. But maybe I justs didn't hear him correctly.

Shelby D. says your logic is flawed. lol
I have it from the mouth of a director that it was tied, maybe that director was mistaken, but I doubt it because they had the judges sheet in their hand.
I heard that it was an even tie with one group being up by one point each in vocals and choreography and the other being one point up in band and show design.

Edit: I retract this statement. I was incorrect in my listening. I must have just been too excited to hear the results, and didn't pay enough attention!
I have it from a very reliable source(not gonna say who) that only .5 point separated Homewood and Albertville in pre-lims! That's crazy! Both of the shows are insanely amazing so it's gonna be a fight to the end! Albertville just performed and was awesome! Looking forward to Homewood!
