Thanks everyone for attending. I hope everyone enjoyed the day. ALL the groups were spectacular. I loved each performance. The students were all so positive and well behaved. I hope to see you back again next year.

Whitney Houston dies and many competitions have interesting finishes. I smell a conspiracy.

TRUTH. Everything was going as normal until everyone found out she died. Then starting literally a half minute after we all found out things EVERYWHERE started going crazy.

Possibly a stupid question, but are these the final results then? Because if they are -- wow! What a push by CPU. Way to represent 3A. Upsetting about Muscatine's finish, though. I've heard nothing but absolutely fantastic things about their show this year.

I should never post directly after a competition because my brain is always so fried I forget lots of things I want to say. So here are some additional comments:

I can remember catching Pekin in 2010 at Nashville Nationals. The improvement from then to now is just astounding. This group is GOING places. The new director and Kevin Chase pairing combined with the amazing work these kids so clearly have put in is REALLY going to make you a powerhouse in Illinois. Quite certainly back to the Pekin of the 80s... The Pekin that everyone feared! Kudos to you.

Its so heart warming to have so many audience members and show choir community people believe in your show. (Would you like to be our judges? haha) We were disappointed with how our show was handled amongst some of the panel members... but, we have been waiting for this to happen all season long. It was just a matter of who and when. Our kids know that judges could very well use their personal distaste for our show content and dock them in areas that have nothing to do with show. We are proud of our performances in Keokuk... the best performances of our season so far. We are happy to have competed with all six finalists last night and will accept our 3rd Runner Up trophy. Its a learning experience. You win some, you lose some. My kids would NEVER trade a higher placing for a "normal" show. They are rock stars.

Thanks for the great notes about Pekin. We are really glad that people are enjoying our show and we were very lucky to have been able to share it with everyone yesterday. Hopefully what we are doing this year will get us back to the Pekin that everyone on the group wants to be, which is just like the Noteables of 1980s and 1990s.

I wish I would have been able to catch more groups yesterday, but I was able to catch Muscatine (sadly from the side :/) and I really thought the show was amazing. I can't wait to see where it heads this year because it really is a great show that everyone on stage is not only proud of, but works their hearts out to make it the best possible. Best of luck to you on the rest of your season - I cannot wait to see where it takes you because you really want to get there, and I believe that you will get there.

I'm sorry, but judges need to judge objectively. Whether or not you like a show shouldn't matter, because it's all according to the scoresheet. There is no explanation for Muscatine getting the scores they did other than either:
A. A bad performance, which I heard was far from the case.
B. Biased judges who judged subjectively.

I'm not going to disagree with Pekin's scores or anyone else's scores, but the ones that RCR got are absurd.

Real Talk.

What a day!

Congrats to Pekin on their win! "Rollin' In The Deep" soloist... Wow. Wowowowowowow. You took Adele's piece and shot it into a new universe. The fine nuance you added to this powerful song was incredible! I loved "This Is War".

Props to Davenport West on improving tenfold from Mt. Pleasant. Its an odd feeling to have been in the FIRST "West Connection" group via combo, who shot up the first flag way back in 2004. I'll never forget the awful feeling as the flag snapped in half at Mo Show day round. I pray that never happens to you this season.

Yes those are the final results. Very surprising results but CPU really stepped it up in finals. I was amazed how much better they got from day round.

The Sassy Kittens are technically just their nickname, but if Encore remains a girls group next year (it would be their third year as a women's group) I think we will officially call them that instead of Encore!
Oh I see! Thanks for the info guys!
