Actually it's funny, after our second show we were waiting on the risers for finals awards, and me and one of my friends were looking up at all the confetti trying to catch it, and the confetti was moving upwards...it wasn't coming down like it was suppossed to, it was going up, higher, and higher.

It made me laugh...

Somehow I got confetti inside my gogo boot....and I have no idea how.

Wow...

This just in... Waconia confetti consumption leads to rising global warming levels! Tisk Tisk!

We were putting our risers up yesterday at pratice, and we had to sweep them for like 10 minutes just to get all the confetti off of them because it was like stuck on there, and once it was all swept into a pile, the pile was GIGANTIC!

It was ALOT of confetti.

I heard that the last bit of confetti that was shot into the air by the "Star Power" competition landed two days later in Pittsburgh.

Ana also told me that she can't seem to get it washed out of her hair.

Innovation - I honestly was not very impressed with your show and did not think you should have been in finals. I thought your costumes were awkward looking on the girls and your songs weren't that catchy. Your choreo was very clean and fun, but not really finals-worthy. Sorry to sound so mean. I usually do enjoy your performances -- and you performed what you had well. This year's show just doesn't appeal to me.
*i'm sorry, but this seems pretty bitchy to me. if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say it at all.

I agree with this usually- if you don't like a show just keep it to yourself, I only ever compliment a show on here. It is discouraging to put so much work into a show and then see it downed like that..

Wowww.

I don't know what else I can say about Star Power other than that.
It was amazing to have so many talented groups and performers come
to our school. Congratulations to all of the finalists and place winners!

It was a great day! thanks to everyone who helped the competition run
smoothly. I'd especially like to shout out to the group that I hosted -- IMPULSE!
I know you guys can only private message but i just have to say:
-You guys are amazing, onstage and off.
-You completely captivated me with your show.
-It was great to meet and actually have a chance to talk with a lot of you.
-and thanks a TON for how much you guys cleaned up at the end of the
day...you made my and steven's job so much easier!!

i just thought this comment applied to what ana said... a lot...

again, groups and their shows aren't set in stone. they change from week to week. so in reality it isn't that strange that points and placings can be different at different competitions.

Yes i also want to comment on this... Groups do have there up's and down's each time they perform. It just all determines how well your going to perform right then and not how you did in the past... and groups do get cleaner (i hope) as the move along in the comp. season. So its very possible to have a horrible show one week and prove yourself the next week. Just matters if you can do it ever week

As for whether or not a group deserves their placement, I'm always bewildered when folks who were not at a competition, and did not see that particular day's performances, use the word "deserve" to describe a placement.

Sure you can say, I've seen them and don't find it surprising that they won or made finals or whatever, but since you weren't there, and didn't see ANY of the shows- how do you really know what you would have thought? Remember, each competition is about what happens THAT day on stage, not what has happened up to that point. The judges are (hopefully) going off of what they see and hear right in front of them, and judging it by the scoresheets given to them for that particular competition.

I'm suprised by the results not in a bad way but i thought for sure that WW would win. I heard they had a great show. There vocals are awesome from what i have heard. It was wierd how it all turned out. Also extremely wierd how Johnston has beaten both Totino and Waukee and they were the 1st and 2nd places. Its just crazy when you go to different places how the judges just like different things. I'm sure everyone did great job though. I'm sure the outcome wasn't what Johnston expected, but should only make you want to do better next week. Congrats everyone. Would love to see WW show live sometime, where else do you guys go?

Wow! I'm really surprised with the final results. I thought for sure WW was going to take this one too. Especially with their ballad that brought me to TEARS. But Millenium, you had an amazing show too! CONGRATS!!!
This competition was probably the best one for me so far. There were so many entertaining and amazing show choirs there to watch. And the food was awesome Waconia! I loved the light show too! Thanks Andy and Kelsey and the other hosts for being such awesome hosts! =) Great competition!!

Just letting everyone know... there was a KEYCHAIN WITH HONDA KEYS FOUND (there are other keys along with it) at Waconia High School on the day of the competition. Let us know if they are yours so we know where they go.
Thanks

I just need to give my opinions on things Saturday...I sat and watched all of the groups from prelims and finals and if I were the judge -- things would have ended very differently.....I loved everyone's performances and was very impressed by all of them, but this is what I think of the groups...

The Classics - They had such an amazing MATURE sound with crisp diction and amazing blend. Their ballad had the most gorgeous sound I have ever heard from a show choir in 9 years of watching show choirs. The vocals carried into the entire show as well. They were the best vocals winner in my book. Great song choices. Beautiful Dresses and great colors. Crisp choreo - however, fairly easy looking. I was so impressed by this show. You guys definitely took it up a notch for finals.

Impulse - They were very clean with choreo and also had a level of difficulty that no one else even came close to touching (I love Stephen's choreo so much!) I really liked the girls' outfits and the guys' outfits, however, I was not a big fan of them mixed together... I enjoyed the vocals throughout the show and the songs -- I was dancing with them in my seat ;). I was so glad to see you in finals.

Company of Singers - My favorite thing about your show was the opening costume. It looked so classy and formal, without being show choir dresses and suits. You have a great show and you know you are very talented. I feel like your choreo was lacking this year - It just didn't have that impressive quality to it. I would have liked to see you increase your energy and excitement for finals - If you did, it did not show like some of the other groups. However, overall your show is a class act. Good work.

Innovation - I honestly was not very impressed with your show and did not think you should have been in finals. Your choreo was very clean and fun. Sorry to sound so mean. I usually do enjoy your performances -- and you performed what you had well. This year's show just doesn't appeal to me.

Vocalmotive - Great show! I was surprised to see you so low in the final rankings. I expected you to be higher up. You entertained me, and kept my attention the whole time with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. Watching your show really made me miss being up on stage singing my heart out - which you should take as a very high compliment ;).

Millenium - You guys have come a long way in the past few years. I was very impressed with the caliber you have gotten to. I really enjoyed your opener and then your guys/girls feature numbers, however, the rest of your show didn't really keep my attention. Your song "Dust in the Wind" was very different and I appreciated that, but it was not my favorite thing of the day. Your guys song was cute - but I am rather tired of Mike Weaver using the exact same choreography on all of his guys songs (and shows in general) Anyone that watches show choir has now seen guys get on the floor do some pushups and then crawl with their feet on the shoulders of the kid behind them...Mike does some amazing work, but I think it is time for him to start being more creative and stop reusing things. (obviously this is nothing that the students can do anything about, and I do not mean to offend anyone - the group performed everything wonderfully and was very clean) Congrats on pulling off Grand Champs! You had the energy and excitement to do it and it was well earned.

Rhythm in Gold - Such a cute show! The vocals were intense and the arrangements seemed difficult - but you handled them very well -- I loved the use of your good first sopranos throughout the show to add lovely upper sounds. Great song choices as well - I love when groups take songs that most people know and change the way the audience looks at them. I was so disapointed you were not in finals. You should have been.

Jefferson Connection - Overall you had a great show. I was impressed with everything you did. I'm sorry you didn't make finals, but it was a tough line-up and obviously not all of the groups could have made it.

I had so much fun at this competiton and truely enjoyed everyone's shows. I wish there could have been four more spots in finals so that I could see all the shows again. It is hard for me to give an order to which groups I would have placed where in finals because all of the groups were so tight. I am excited to see finals scores and how close they really were. Again, I am sorry for being kind of harsh to some of the groups, but I really did enjoy the day. All of the groups were outstanding.

-- John

i'm just saying if i was from waukee browsing this topic, i would question if my group deserved to get grand champions.

and based on what i've seen they deserve it.

I think it's fairly rare that a grand champion group, or really, most groups in finals, wouldn't question their results after reading SCC comments.

As for whether or not a group deserves their placement, I'm always bewildered when folks who were not at a competition, and did not see that particular day's performances, use the word "deserve" to describe a placement.
