Mr. Woodin (or Temple), how long have you guys used that system? I guess you never really see points put into rankings like that, its usually just points or just rankings. I think its interesting to see the changes from points to rankings and how some judges judged higher overall compared to others. Definitely a great competition.
We scored first with raw scores and converted to ranking. You will see the difference from raw scores to rankings scores and the placements that changed.
Raw Scores Vocal/Show/Total
Ankeny 778/776/1554
CR Kennedy 730/719/1449
Waukee 724/711/1435 tie goes to top vocal score
Johnston 721/714/1435
Totino - Grace 714/715/1429
Linn-Mar 704/685/1389

What were the names of the opener soloist and the first girl soloish in Ankeny? They Stuck with me a lot lol otherwise what were the names of the two that won best female and male soloist
Opener: Taylor Kinney
Ballad soloists: Nolan Henkle and Heather Smith
The one that won best female soloist was Sam Statler (On My Way)

I got chills during Taylor Kinney's Ankeny solo, and am INCREDIBLY bummed that I will not see the show again. Congrats as well to Nolan and the female partner on the ballad (it was very well done!), and to Alex (it was refreshing to hear something other than Loch Lomond, haha--you have a great voice), and both female soloists (sorry I do not know your names ). You guys rocked house!
To DiAndre and the opening female soloist of Linn-Mar's show, I did not get to see your performance yesterday, but word has it both were incredible! I really liked the show at your competition.
Another thing that I missed was Johnston's new ballad. I saw your day show, but missed the night. Too bad, because I heard it was good!
WesTraen (I only know you by your screen name), you sounded awesome during the day, and I agree with satchjones, that you have a really good stage presence. Actually, all of the Totino-Grace solos were good. You guys have a really unique show.
Congrats again to everyone
Thanks! I'll make sure to pass your encouragement onto all of them

I'm assuming Comprehensive Sound Services, but I've been wrong before!
Still irritated I couldn't be there...
Actually it was Dave Mattern and not Comprehensive Sound. I'm not sure if he has a website or not though. I'll get Woodin to post information for contacting him.
A. He was correcting you because you said the judges ranked, then scored. That is incorrect. They scored, which was then converted into rankings.
B. The final placements were determined by the ranking totals, and per THOSE totals, the difference was not over 100 points. He wasn't referencing the raw scores, as those simply determined rankings.
One director, gave totals including something like: Ankeny 1454, CR Kennedy 1349, etc. So yes, they did do a raw score in finals, and yes, there was over 100 points difference from 1st to 2nd.
