I should also add, I am quick becoming a Tantasqua super fan. I loved their SNL theme show last year during the virtual season. Little did I know, they had a hilarious and clever show again this year! I think I did see that they had a "Greeting Cards" theme show earlier in the season, but gosh I get so busy on SCC that I don't think I ever saw the show before today. Amazingly inventive, lots of fun, and completely heartwarming is how I'd describe the show. At this rate, I really can't wait to see what y'all do next year.
I finally also got to watch Daniel Hand's The Matrix show in full. I really enjoyed it too! Was this show arranged by Josh Greene? It was familiar, but also completely brand new in the repertoire. I thought the choreography was a real standout. I'm glad this show got its moment in the spotlight and to experience a full competition season.
Tantasqua has a style that is so different up here. They do the theme show so differently then any group I’ve seen across the country it’s always so fun to watch. And I say this all the time that the two groups that always show the biggest improvement from the first comp to the last is South Windsor and Tantasqua. Daniel hands choreo is always top of the line up here and it’s always so fun to watch year in and year out. Sadly Choral Spectrum had to drop out but this event seemed like such a fun one and I can’t wait to attend in person in the future!
I caught a bit of this stream since it's a slower show choir Saturday, and I really enjoyed Waltham! The forcefulness they came out with in their opener was impressive and I think their visuals in their song after their ballad were mesmerizingly layered. Kudos to them for winning their 4th straight in the Northeast!
Also Bishop Hendricken looked like they had a BLAST hosting this first ever Rhode Island event. The 'Get Ready For This' music, championship belt, boxing introduction. Tons of energy. Looking forward to seeing this event become a staple in the New England circuit.
Blue Valley also did a championship belt this year in their first competition. Do we really just have that many incognito wrestling fans in the show choir community?
Waltham is so amazing this year. Seeing it on stream still doesn’t do justice to the in room Waltham experience it’s really something else. So excited for a lot of the new additions and changes to show choir up here!

Super cool that this is the first show choir competition in Rhode Island! According to this site, the host choir (Bishop Hendricken) is the only show choir in Rhode Island. I know it's the smallest state, but hopefully show choir will start to grow there. New England has definitely established itself as a force with some super strong groups (Waltham, Daniel Hand, Shepherd Hill, etc.) and I'm super excited to see it grow!
We have some extremely exciting news - the state of Rhode Island will be host to its very first show choir competition this March! Hosted by Bishop Hendricken, more details will follow.
