Congratulations to all of the competing groups at state yesterday! You all had an amazing show and another great season. To all of those seniors out there reading this, I am beyond happy we had a normal season this year.
CG and CHS don’t come because they regularly travel to go to HOA. As for FC girls (and other schools) every competition is different, so sometimes scores will come out higher or lower across the board. HV is certainly an incredibly talented group—and every group who visited qualifying sites and those competing today are absolutely wonderful and hardworking. The top 9 scores in the state from qualifying sites are the ones taken to finals. It is not a fully comprehensive system since judging is largely subjective and each contest is different, though. Hope that helps!
Ehh HOA is fairly new compared to state. I cannot Recall many times CG has gone. Carmel has consistently gone over the course of states history. Other groups have not gone to state bc of issues.
So a school that wins against tougher competition but has lower overall scores gets “penalized” for beating tougher competition? That seems odd…you’d think that wins against tougher schools would count more.
Good example of a flaw in these state contests. Because there isn't really a way to accurately compare groups across all competitions, funky systems like this get used that have major issues in the groups they select.
All of these groups are deserving of being at this contest, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find people that don't think Noblesville and FC single-gender are top 9 groups in Indiana (if that is truly the qualification method).
As a member of High Voltage, honestly not making state was such a blessing. This season has been such a life changing one. We were able to build amazing bonds with all of our competitors, making every loss still feel like a win. Voltage got to have a performance just about us in return for not making state, and it was such a beautiful moment. Voltage is looking forward to cheering on everyone this weekend. Sometimes not being considered “the best” can remind you of the true meaning and importance of show choir congratulations to all who qualified, Voltage wishes you nothing more than joy and love in the performances you have this weekend
