At Marysville classes have always been dependent on singer # not school size. I'm not sure of the exact cutoffs but Medium Mixed is usually around 30-35 singers or less. I'm assuming Small Mixed would be 20-25 or less and Large Mixed 35+
Which is the smartest way to do it I feel. With school size it gives groups the ability to put successful large groups with small school numbers; up against small not as established groups with large school numbers. I feel group sizes as the qualifications for division makes the event as fair as possible to everyone involved, especially during a pandemic. Super excited to finally see Mt.Zion and Hurricane go head to head at this one !! ????
Ehh no. All it means is they have a higher chance of getting a better crop of singers/dancers bc they have more students. The choir community is still small. A small mixed group can still beat a large mixed group. Dekalb comes to
Mind. It’s quality of the group that matters.
I'm anxious to see how things play out as well! This will be Hurricane's first time competing at Marysville. While they're no stranger to competitions in Ohio, I am very curious to see how they stack up against Mt. Zion
