Can you (or anyone else) clarify? A previous post the night of the competition said NWR took best vocals, visuals, and overall effect/show design.

This is correct. PRC had best vocals and show design.

Actually, that’s not correct. The competition was scored on a Consensus Ordinal Ranking, which is why NWR got Best Show Design and Best Vocals. Everyone had them in first except one judge. Because NWR had the most ones, they got best vocals and best show design. They wouldn’t have given them those awards at the competition had they not received them. I’m not sure where these people above received their information, but even on the Carmen Scoring system, NWR received best vocals and best show design.

Got it. We rely on user-submitted information/results, so I do want to make sure we're being accurate. I appreciate the discussion and fact-checking. We've updated the event page accordingly.

I think they got those based on points in finals. I'm not sure which they use to determine caption awards because some places use Consensus Ordinal to determine captions and others use raw scores to determine captions.

They determined captions from preliminary performances—which is why they received the awards during the preliminary award ceremony. They didn’t do captions for finals. If they did, NWR would’ve still gotten vocals and visuals and PRC would’ve gotten show design; but they didn’t do those awards for finals.

Consensus Rankings has PRC with Best Show Design https://showchoir.carmenscoring.com/results/division/951/standings/DVFPZPDO
Raw Scores had PRC with BVocal and BShow = Raw score = Overall First place(Grand Champion) but now I understand they did rankings! Apologies!

In finals, but not in prelims, which is what I said above. If they had given awards for finals, PRC would’ve received Best Show Design. But in prelims, NWR received all three—which is why they received the awards in prelims.

Prelim awards are irrelevant

They aren’t irrelevant when the awards were given before finals were announced. They didn’t do captions for finals. NWR didn’t receive any captions for finals and neither did PRC. Captions were awarded during the prelims.

That’s the sole purpose of finals, for rescoring, these awards are going under the FINALS Section!

The reason they aren’t is because they didn’t give those awards for finals. That’s what I’m saying. But it is what it is.

For example, at Magnolia, which you most likely attended, they didn’t give captions for finals, but the awards for prelims stuck. If there were an award ceremony for it, I could understand, but there was not. Just like at Purvis, they didn’t give those awards for finals.
