Did I hear correctly that Lester Ray Miller III is leaving Ankeny Centennial after this year?

Is he going some place else or leaving the show choir world entirely?

Did they award a band caption?

Waukee won in day round! Their band was phenomenal!!! They also won best instrumentalist.

I know Sofia Burke from Momentum won BFS. BMS went to someone from Waukee. I’m sorry I don’t know his name!!

Waukee has been pretty competitive. Anybody know how close it was?

From watching them it seemed really close. I don’t think anyone in Iowa can touch Centennial visually this year. Maybe Linn-Mar. I love the way Waukee sings, so I thought they could maybe win that caption, but Centennial has a great sound, and sings a lot more soft sections than Waukee. They have a big beautiful sound, but Centennial sings more artistically, I think.

I only caught a glimpse at the finals scores, so this may not be correct, but I think every judge had Centennial first all competition. So I’m not sure it was actually that close.

Yeah that’s what I meant. Was it spectrum first on all and waukee second for all. It thanks. I know both have phenomenal shows this year.

I only looked at top 3, but Spectrum was way out in front on raw score and had firsts from all 5 judges in finals. Waukee had 2-2-2-3-3 and Urbandale was 2-2-3-3-4.

Having now seen both shows through YouTube I absolutely see what you were saying about the sounds of each group. Waukee has a very traditional show choir sound that is so pleasant to listen to on the ears and they absolutely slay their arrangements.

With that said, Spectrum sounded like they were singing some incredibly different music along with singing with such a beautiful sound and phrasing that I would just give them the tiniest edge. I think this ultimately comes down to preference.

Congratulations to Ankeny Centennial "Spectrum" on their undefeated season. I saw it coming right after their first performance at Johnston this year. Absolutely the most beautiful show I have ever seen. Nobody sings or dances quite like them this year.
