Hopefully I'll be one this summer too! Eeek.

Congrats to everyone! I wish I would have been able to stay, watch, and meet new people, but I actually had a jazz band competition in Herscher that I had to go to. For the time I was there, I thought the competition was excellent and looked like fun even though I hadn't gotten much of the feel. Even though Pekin didn't final, I was very happy to hear where we had placed in such a wonderful list of amazing show choirs. I really hope that we will come back next year!

After a long season, it was nice to not bring 80 children along and to finally get to sit down with friends and watch an entire show choir competition!

Just a few thoughts on groups-

Waubonsie (pronounced- WAH-BAH-NEHS haha): Wow. As always, you bring a caliber of performance to the stage that just sets the bar higher than any other group!

Mitchell: Your show design is pretty genius! I can tell you love to perform it. The choreo looks so clean! I love the stage set up as well- VERY effective.

Pike: I've got to give mad props to my guy EJ for the choreo he gave you in the last two songs- the performers look SICK doing it! The ballad was a memorable moment too! This was my first time seeing your group live- I hope it won't be my last.

Mt. Zion: Your choreography was my favorite of the day- just so energy packed and intense. Magic Medley was my favorite- and that closer.... WOW!

Eisenhower: You bring so much energy to the stage for such a compact group- always a treat to see.

Crete: Good to see you are starting to come back from a few years off the beaten path! It was fun to watch you perform your closer.

Wheaton: Always always always the most FUN group to watch. Everyone looks like they are having the best time ever at all times. The choreography was SICK! And that band- Holy shnikeys!!! You've also have one of my favorite ballads for the season. Jeffy and Mary rock too!

All in all, we had an amazing day:

Just for FYI: the photo above is alumni (besides Jeffy) that work for show choir Camps of America in the summer: Davenport West, Waubonsie Valley, Mitchell, Wheaton Warrenville, Mt. Zion, Enterprise, Twinsburg, La Crosse Central, Onalaska, Pike, and Sumner, are ALL represented in the picture. Now THAT is the true power of show choir!

Oh... and Mt zion.. your magic trick with the disappearing people... ITS DRIVING ME INSANE. I cant figure it out! I know thats the point... but I spent the rest of the show trying to figure it out. I've googled how to do magic tricks like that and such... but I can't figure it out! Anyone from mt zion want to PM me and tell me how? Or even just give me a hint! PLEASE hahaha

As promised, my thoughts that no one cares about! :D
First, even though I didn't get to stay for Wheaton's show, I just want to thank everyone at the competition for being so welcoming! It was a privilege to be able to watch finals here.

WV - The way you guys sing while dancing is just incredible, and your ballad sounded better than 99% of chamber choirs that I've ever heard. It was so beautiful. However, I do wish your show had been a bit cleaner choreographically. You guys put tons of energy into your performance, but it was almost too much to the point where some moves didn't make sense visually. Still an amazing performance overall.

Mitchell - This was my first time seeing you guys, and it was an experience I'd love to repeat. The show design was phenomenal, and your choreography was SO GOOD! It was remarkably clean and polished, and fit your style and songs perfectly. However, especially compared to the other groups, it seemed like you guys weren't singing 100% - with 50 people on the stage, I expected more sound and diction. The loud band may have also contributed to this...

Mt. Zion - Wow. You guys absolutely rocked the house in every way possible. Your vocals were locked and solid, and your choreography (ignore whoever said this was an easy show, it's definitely not) was sweet to watch - it's always Dwight's best work. I thought your ballad was one of the best moments of the night, and the magic medley wasn't too far behind. I love how you incorporated that amazing trick, but didn't make it the focal point of the entire 4 minutes.

EEE - It's always inspiring to watch how you guys pull off such a great show with 14 less people than every other group that comes on stage. I think it's because every single performer just owns the stage, both vocally and visually throughout the whole show. My favorite part of the show was the mens' number, because those guys can work it. Great job!

Pike - Woooo! Every time I watch an Indy group, the more I feel like moving to Indianapolis just so I can be in one of these groups because you guys were AMAZING. Except for a smidge of shoutyness, vocals were stunning, especially for a group of 38, and my suspicion that you guys are amazing dancers was confirmed beyond a doubt. The opener, the novelty, the ballad, the 4th song, the closer.. every song was great in its' own way. The closer is my fave, though.

Crete - Maybe it's just the fact that your dresses were soo bright, but boy, did y'all have energy! :D Once again, you guys were small but sang phenomenally. I'll be honest, throughout the entire show, I was waiting for the one thing that would make your show stand out. And I got it in that closer - it was an absolutely beautiful and inspiring way to end the night, and that soloist definitely deserved her award.

For the second straight year, making predictions for this comp was terrifyingly difficult. Nobody should have been upset about 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th, because every group sang and danced their hearts out.
However, if you break it down like the judges are supposed to, I had it:
Vocals: WV - Mt. Zion - Pike - Crete - Mitchell - EEE
Choreo: Mitchell - Mt. Zion - Pike - WV - EEE - Crete
Added Ranks: Mt. Zion (4) - WV (5) - Pike (6, better vocals) - Mitchell (6) - Crete (10) - EEE (11)

Well, I'm not a judge anyway, so please don't be offended. Thanks to all the performers for six terrific shows again!

"MTZ is very clean, but I think their show lacks difficulty. Awesome to watch, and I thought they deserved a better placement at the hoosier classic. "

Curious as to how you came to that conclusion regarding "difficulty"????

What a fantastic competition!! All groups were absolutely amazing. Obviously first 3 placements vocals were out of this world.
Swingsations had a great time at Wheaton and were extremely thankful for all of the comments on our show.
Wabousnie---- WOW!
Mitchell- First time seeing you, transitions are flawless, vocals and showdesign fantastic.
Pike- as a previous poster had said Choreo flawless and Vocals up there with the best I have seen this year.
EEE- Loved seeing your show, the kids left it all on stage for that finals performance
Crete- What a great year for you guys, closer is amazing...as usual. Congrats on a great year.
Classics- that was the SICKEST performance I have seen all year long. (in a good way)

Thank you to all of the Wheaton parents for your hospitality and for putting on a great competition AGAIN!!

ok actually I couldn't find it or get the video available to work. I downloaded silverlight and everything, must not be looking at the right videos
Prelims isn't up anymore. The stream says it is still live... So until they end the broadcast it will not show up in "Archived Broadcasts," which is where you would watch the video.

I could have seen pike taking choreo at this competition. Those kids can dance... there is so much talent on the stage when they are on there, but because they're small, I don't think they get as much credit as they deserve. Vocally they are amazing as well

Their ballad at FC's comp "Is Anybody Out There" made my mom cry and raise her hand like we were in church lol. Amazing. Whoever that low bass guy is that has a solo in the show, please keep singing... Please!

MTZ is very clean, but I think their show lacks difficulty. Awesome to watch, and I thought they deserved a better placement at the hoosier classic.

I really want to see Mitchell. Is their show up?????

Am I going to get egged or something like rachel berry If I go to Iowa to see them or something? Where else are they performing?

Their ballad this year is the my favorite one that I have ever seen Encores do, the years that I was in it included. Mr. Stainbrook picked an amazing show this year. In my opinion, it's all around the best show he's ever picked for Encores.
