dont forget we gotta be nice to them too

You guys are incredible. I'm a die hard (hehe) Carmel supporter, but a lot of ppl are missing the magic. Show them what's up.

Kill your prelims performance, then step up. I've been saying Carmel is in rank with Clinton, Burroughs, and Burbank. I really hope you guys prove me right this weekend

Break A Leg!

that's not funny scott. no one wants to stone you to death. don't even talk about that. we just wish you wouldn't talk crap about schools you've never seen before and bring your alma mater into every discussion.

Lol, clearly no one is that pissed at me, and Jay, there aren't many schools I've "Never seen before". You act like I've never seen Iowan choirs live before, and I certainly have. I've seen CRK, Xavier, ICH, CRJ, and Ankeny live, I've got the jist. Just as you've said I know nothing about MN choirs when I've seen TG, Bemidji, Bloomington jefferson and kennedy, and Hastings.... I've seen every choir in Indiana and Illinois live at one point or another, I've seen Burbank, Burroughs, Hart, and Brea live. My point is, I've been around as long as you, and have been to just as many competitions as you, and have checked just as many results as you, so I've seen nearly every choir live by now.

I'm really tired of being told I don't know what I'm talking about when I most definitely do... Just because I talk mostly about Indiana bc that's where I live, doesn't mean that I only care about Indiana, or think Indy is tops... I have nothing against you or Iowan show choirs. I am just super tired of the supremacist attitude that comes from you and a few other posters EVERY time I post in some topic regarding Iowan choirs.

Point is, I get the *Point and whisper* when I see a group of young scc ppl sitting together at contests, and that's really no fun lol. Plus most of my Indiana show choir friends have dispersed so I don't have ppl that are willing to travel for show choir around me anymore.

That honestly does influence a lot of my decision making when trying to figure out where I'm going to go. It's my own fault for being a snot nosed teenager spewing a bunch of garbage, but still it's kinda sad. I've tried hard since coming back to scc, to not step on toes, and I think that i've done a pretty good job. It seems as though half of this site, is friending me, or sending me messages thanking me for the nice things I've said about a lot of groups this year, and the OTHER half, is taking things out of context and trying to portray me as that same stupid 16 yr old I was in 2005. It gets very tiring...

If I didn't think that people would maybe like... stone me to death, I would come to this competition. But as you've noticed, I got some Haters of my own... lol

One of us will probably put it up on youtube after this competition is done. Or if you're going to teays, then you'll see it there.

Lol well obviously your last statement is true.

I clearly haven't seen Carmel's show, so I really don't know what the fuss is about.

I was just stating that I've never seen anything from him in EITHER Ambassadors or Accents shows, that I'd consider risque or inappropriate, and that I find it shocking that so many ppl think it's distasteful.

The only time I've been shocked by some ostentatious choreography was North Central's in 2009 before they made changes.

I will take the other observers word for it though.

I have heard MULTIPLE people feel upset/awkward at the provocative nature of some of Carmel's show. So you shouldn't get mad at him. Ron Morgan is great but I think you are going a little overboard with your comments about him. I can think of multiple choreographers that have been around longer and have been more tasteful overall. And I don't understand how performing adult material is the same thing as being incredibly well-trained. I think you can be incredibly well-trained and perform a tasteful show without acting like you work on a street corner.

I don't think you can get any more "Tastefully Done" than Ron Morgan. He is an Icon and an Idol. As far as I'm concerned, regarding Choreography, his word is law. You can't really get upset at a high school program performing adult material, and seeiming adult. That just shows how incredibly well trained they are.

Bishop Luers High School is blessed to have such a talented and creative choreographer. He was able to teach my 19 new freshman to dance and perform while keeping a high level of challenging choreography for my veterans. We love our new direction with Ron Morgan and thank him every week for helping us become a competitive choir again this year.

just a plug for Carla Doles.... that woman can make a rock sing. if you think her style is too old for the game then.... you might just want to take a look at all of the trophies that we brought home this year. Grand Champions left and right for both the mixed group and womens group. we are top notch thanks to her.

don't bash doles.

I don't think he meant that as a put down for Carla...that woman gets amazing results and clearly the judges like that. I believe the comment was made because the person who made the original, incredibly rude, and immature remark, somehow feels it is necessary to criticize Carroll for the more progressive direction that the choir has taken since Carla left Carroll 7 years ago. These original comments were made by a former student who was gone before Carla left and has no direct contact (and very little indirect contact) with the new director. Carroll's current director came at a time when the students felt abandoned and they have all worked very hard to continue the legacy Carla started so many years ago, just in a different direction...it's a matter of personal preferences and now that these students are finally getting a positive response for all of their hard work, this one person, who clearly hasn't matured past middle school, even though she is well into her 20's, felt it necessary to trample on their success. We celebrate Carla and Norwell's successes and it was a pleasure to welcome her back to the Carroll stage. There is no doubt that she has made Norwell's choirs the tremendous success that they are today (and lets not forget about a lot of hard work and dedication by a lot of talented students too!!). Congrats to all for all of your hard work an dedication....after all, it would be boring if every choir had the same style!

I don't think she was bashing Ron Morgan or his choreography at all. I for one think the show was performed AMAZINGLY! No one can come close to their vocals and their choreo is soooo clean. The bigger problem I see with the number is that they are high schoolers who have been practicing and perfecting, to use you words, "thoughtfully provocative" choreography and the overall general theme of the song for months now. I odn't think anyone can say that what they are doing is totally appropriate for high school. That being said, I do think that they perform the snot out of it and it is well done, I just think it could have been a little bit more tastefully done. Great job to everyone this weekend! This contest was, in my opinion, the most competitive contest of the year with many powerhouse choirs that all did a fantastic job! Would have hated to be a judge at this one!

if you don't like the choreo it's one thing but Ron Morgan is a genius.. the mans had years and years of experience on broadway and his choreo is some of the most technical stuff I've ever seen and performed. I just find it hard to criticize a song as famous and mature as be Italian when half the groups around are singing stuff off mtv with very little musical value.. definitely not taking anything away from those groups because it(hip hop) is a very difficult style to conquer, but so is the stuff Carmel takes on. and I definitely do not agree with how you view the be Italian choreo. it's meant to be thoughtfully provocative but I don't believe it's close to "slutty" at all

What I'm saying is... Yes it is very cool and was lifted very well from nine. Ron Morgan is indeed a great choreograghper and every single one of those performers did a wonderful job BUT it is way too "thoughtfully provocative" for a high school competition. AGAIN very well done by Ron and very well performed it just is too much for a croud that has young children watching...
