I think time after time people deem results “weird”. In no shape or form has show choir ever followed specific guidelines from competition to competition. For all we know they could have done captions based on one person’s judgement and then had the other judges rank the groups and get the placements like that. Before discrediting a result perhaps take time to see how the contest came to result conclusions. It’s diesheartening to see these backhanded congrats to the announced winner.
Lmao not backhanded. Don’t need a high and mighty comment from you when mine wasn’t rude at all, just stating the obvious that when a group gets GC with no captions, it’s odd. Goodbye.
I’ve seen it happen, and after it’s happened, people always say it’s weird, because it is. It must have been close! No one discredited holmen, I’m sure their show was great tonight.
As show choir continues to grow hopefully more contests are more open about how results come to be. It’s always more clear when someone posts how results came about. The first part of my original post was to show that show choir is not universal and there are a million and two ways to get results, it’s just what comes with the crazy thing we call show choir. It’s a conversation I think it worth having so people don’t just look at results at face value and can reason with a competitions way of determining results.
Can't remember the exact points but central had like 1151 raw in finals followed by Ona 1141 and then Holman like ten points behind that, thus central won in raw points. What happened however is that the score was determined by rankings, in which case Central had receive a 1st, a 1st, a 2nd, a 2nd, and a 4th and Holman had received a 1st, a 1st, a 2nd, a 2nd, and a 3rd. Each ranking score was then given a certain number of points, with a one being 20, a 2 being 18, 3 being 16, and 4 being 14. After rankings scores were put together, Holman had a 96 and Central had a 94 and Ona had an 88 which led to the outcome of GC, 1st RU and 2nd RU. My numbers may be wrong, but that is how it was explained by my director. Hope this helps. All groups were phenomenal yesterday and although the outcome was a little sketchy, winning should not be the only measure of accomplishment (although it is fun) I know that GCS has had to come a long way this year and didn't even expect to place this high at all this year, and Holman has worked very hard for their win, all groups should be proud of their achievements.
