We just started this competition to try to build more interest in show choir in Texas. There aren't many groups right now in the state so hopefully we can have another venue for the show choirs here. We run our contest similarly to Lone Star in Keller. We do have a swing choir division because we have more groups like that in this area. Some groups that consider themselves "show choirs" are not quite like the show choirs in other parts of the country but we had to start somewhere. The schedule is posted. Apologies on it looking a bit funky, I'm somewhat unclear how this competition works since it's their inaugural year. The first Open Division is considered "High School Show Choir" while the second Open Division is considered "Swing Choir." It seems swing, in this instance, is like jazz choir, which isn't really show choir, but McNeil "Rhapsody" considers themselves a women's show choir. So... I'm slightly unsure.
Prelim awards are at 3:30 pm. They will take 4 finalists. The rules/regulations don't outline anything specific in regard to finals, so it would seem perhaps any choir may be eligible. And then final awards are at 7 pm.
I know we don't have a ton of Texas participation on here, but if anyone has additional details please do share.
