Sioux Center came out of no where. Their choreography was clean and their vocals were just fantastic. Their ballad made me wanna cry. Legit. Dan Laveeg student taught at LeMars when I was a junior and he is a great man. I am glad he has turned sioux center's show choir into a competitive group. WATCH FOR THEM IN THE FUTURE 2A!
Carroll's vocals and choreography were down a lot from last year. It disappointed me. They have had beautiful vocals the past two years. But this year it just wasn't there. "Remember When it Rained" was just too big of a task for them to take on. It was nice, but it didn't do what it should have. The closer "Earth Wind Fire Megamix" was the exact arrangement LeMars did my sophomore year. I was definitely doing our choreography in my head :D
Lawton - always an entertaining show. The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything.. very funny. I love Orphans of God. Not so much the arrangement, however.
Sioux City East New Sound - I was very surprised choreography wise. very well done. Sounded like a prep group, but chreoghraphy was nice.
Sheldon - I loved RENT. Your show was probably the most entertaining of the day.
Westwood. Oh Westwood. Mr. Gerking is a great great man that builds his program up every year. Your finals show was lightyears better than daytime vocally. I really dont care for the guys song with the mcdonalds bags. The soloist is awkward and hard to understand. I've seen your show 5 times this year and I still dont know what he was trying to say. Congratulations on the win. First time you guys haven't won best band at Hinton.
LeMars - GREAT JOB snagging best band Daytime performance was a little sloppy guys. But finals was great. Vocals are fantastic. Mercy is just amazing to watch. You guys get so into it. THe ballad makes me wanna cry. I'm not really a fan of the opener. Reach is okay. Anyway You Want it leaves me wanting more vocally, but still you guys did amazing. I really really thought you guys would win. Congrats on an amazing season. I love you guys.
This competition is tomorrow. I'm gonna go out on a huge limb with the following predictions. Once again, the first 3 spots can go any way. Same is said for the last three.
GC: LeMars
1RU: Westwood (BB)
2RU: Carroll
3RU: Sioux Center
4RU: Lawton Bronson
5RU: Sheldon/Laurens Marathon/SC East Prep
One of my friends from Hinton, Allyson, 's brother died last night from an asthma attack. Her dad died about 2 years ago from a heart attack. Although neither one of them is in show choir, I felt that I should mention this since the thought'll definitely be around tomorrow. Keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.

My mother told me about this when I got home from college today. Their family is definitely in my family's prayers and I hope they do something tomorrow at the competition in honor of this.

I also agree with the top three. No idea on the other finalists, either.
Aaalso, I know that most of us LeMars folks are going to try to hold our own and win this thing this year. I think we have it in us. Erbody shud cum wach
kenzie.. you're kinda embarrassing
tomorrow ill be there around.. 2 ish. i think.

I agree with your top three Ethan - I'm going to offer a little input. Little Laurens-Marathon came out of the auditorium at Emmetsburg with the second highest total points of the day. They have some really fine female singers-it isn't a "big show" - and you never know how judging panels respond - but I would put them as a player in the finals mix. Sheldon has a possible spot also- they have been working from behind all year due to weather (like all of us), but their show has the potential to have really improved to the point of finishing in the top six. Biggest surprise has been Sioux Center - who came on like gangbusters at Westwood after a disappointing finish at Emmetsburg. Lawton-Bronson is always solid. It will be a lot of fun to see who shows up Saturday.
Sioux Center's finish at Westwood is the reasoning for me putting them in the spot behind the top three. When they were announced as 2A champ - above Sheldon and Lawton - I was absolutely amazed! (And so happy! Their director student taught at LeMars for us. Loved him). I'm excited to see the battle for the final three spots. It should be very, very close!

Top three will be Westwood, LeMars, and Carroll. Not necessarily in that order. But it will be those three groups. Sioux Center should finish behind them. Lawton behind Sioux Center, and the final spot is a mystery to even me.
