It was nice to see some Iowans for a change. Since we left our beautiful HUSKER state we have not competed against any of you all. Your show was lovely! I particularly have missed the spirit fingers instead of clapping in the middle of a ballad . Thanks for that. Best to you.
I did say it via Twitter, but I do want to say it again. Big thank you to Sioux City East for making a trip to Ohio. When was the last time an Iowa group came to Ohio? I'm sure Adam would know, but it's certainly rare. Anyways, I'm SO glad y'all did! The opener BLEW me away - full sound and an insane amount of energy. It was also wonderful to hear your 6x best male soloist during the ballad. At the final awards, Pat and I were literally in a sea of Sioux City folks and they were all very kind and had good sportsmanship. I would LOVE for more Iowa/that side of the Midwest groups to make their way to Ohio - whether that's if HOA hosts again in Cincy or at fantastic regional events like Fairfield, Medina, or Marysville. A group of us also need to road trip to an Urbandale or Great River sort of competition sometime because y'all are so good over there.
Sadly I didn't see NSP or CPU as I only attended finals, but y'all traveled very far as well and I hope it was a good experience.
Lastly, Edgewood's ballad was so cute. I very much enjoyed it and thought it was a perfect piece in their unique show. And then Fairfield folks know I love them so congrats on the GC. Y'all were just so good. Congrats on the killer performance and busy busy day/night for all Fairfield folks - singers, parents, band, crew dads, directors, etc. Looking forward to seeing it again at Wapak!
I don't know that any Iowa group has ever competed in Ohio before this past weekend. I know of groups going to Indiana, but that's about it. It's been a dream of mine for decades to compete at Findlay some year! Definitely we need more crossovers!!! Come visit us!
