I believe that it is explained in the Middle Schools topic in the "Show Choir Discussion" Forum.

Edit: FOUND IT!!!

Just to clarify....the information stated about Jefferson Middle School competition was incorrect....it was a split decision amongst the four judges. No one judge caused any group to win or lose.

Emily Begnaund and Allen Chapman had Regis in first overall in addition to vocally and choreographically.

Steven Todd and myself had Mckinley in first overall with Regis first vocally and Mc Kinley first choreographically.

All judges had the two groups 1 and 2 and the range between the two groups went from .5-6.5 points. Hope this clears up any confusion and miscommunications. All said it was a great Friday and I hope that most of you had the opportunity to see an amazing Middle School competition both groups performed exceptionally well and should be proud! The future of show choir in Cedar Rapids will be great!

Best,

AC

I'm not certain there is "controversy" but there certainly are rumors and if anyone has the ability to clear those up, that'd be nice.

Jay that is pretty strange. I also thought it was kind of cool that on "Show Choir Day" in Cedar Rapids, proclaimed by the mayor, C.R. groups won the two competitions hosted by C.R. groups.

I talked about this with Taylor but this is sorta weird....

Kennedy and Xavier are right down the street from each other. Craig and Milton are basically sister choirs and are pretty close to each other.

Kennedy and Xavier both won Best Vocals and Best Band

Milton and Craig both won Best Choreo....

weird.

also.... what were middle school results? i'm guessing Regis won?

Congrats to Happiness!

I am interested in seeing a judge breakdown of scores for the middle schools, if anyone has that available.

I've always had a bias against Happiness Inc. JUST because they're from rival school CR Kennedy haha. And I don't like how they perfom novelty numbers. However i got in costume really early yesterday to make sure I could watch them this year before I had to run into warm up for WSD. And I've gotta say, well done Happiness! I LOVED your ballad a TON. And the novelty wasn't bad this year haha. And I also saw Protege, and wow, Happiness has a lot of talented people coming in next year! BOTH shows were great and I can totally see why Happiness won. Good job to both of you!

Craig was AWESOME at Mo-Show yesterday. They always pump up their performance at Wash. And they also won the People's Choice award for the 6th consecutive year!!!

Congrats to Happiness! I saw a bunch of you guys at Perkins last night, and I loved the medals

Wow, Protege! What a great placing to have before FAME. Now I'm really hoping you can come WOW the judges at FAME and make finals! (i know you will wow the audiences for sure, because your show is just FANTASTIC!)

This is partially true. Janesville Craig did not change their competition schedule as they have competed at MoShow for the past 6 years, nor did the two schools "agree" on anything. Milton did change their competition schedule for this year, as everyone has the right to do.

And thanks Chris, but we've made finals at MoShow for the past 4/6 years...is that still considered "finally"? Wink face.

has it really been 4/6 years? geeze, maybe the times i remember you didn't make finals. *shrug* I still think its been amazing to see such evolution of a choir like i've seen with Janesville. Oh well! NEXT YEAR I WILL SEE THEM.

Milton and Janesville agreed to not compete against each other due to the family ties between the choirs. I do hope Milton returns soon, but Janesville has been at Mo Show for a long time, i always remember them winning "Peoples Choice" and it is great to finally see them making finals, and making huge strides! I am sad I couldn't see them, but this is over.

I've heard from numerous sources that Davenport North finished 4th not 5th.

The middle schools and jazz choirs are less than 24 hours from taking the stage. I am still trying to figure out how much of this competition I can see this weekend.
