The Alan B. Shepard NOVA students who won awards were:
Instrumental Soloist Ted Anton (sophomore)
Soloist (in show) Jebasia Turner
additionally, NOVA had to decline the Combo award as there are two adults in their combo.
everyone in NOVA was very happy to be part of this event and really enjoyed themselves.
Thanks to all the hardworking kids, parents and volunteers.
quick question:
Was the Instrumental soloist the flutist or the pianist? They were both incredible!!!
We loved you guys and your show was spectacular!! Your director danced in front of my wheelchair the whole time you were performing. It was the sweetest thing ever!! So much talent!

I had so much fun at this competition.
Everyone was really kind and welcoming.
I was definitely shocked, but, nevertheless, it was still a great day & I thought all the groups performed well.
Thanks so much for inviting our group over on Friday.
And thanks for including us in your invitational.

Thanks. I really liked this invitational and thought that it was a lot of fun. Thanks for a great day!!
Hey, Our pleasure!! By the way, someone took a picture of me wheelchair racing with one of your people (I lost the race, but I'm not bitter). Is there any way I can get a copy of that for our end of the year slide show???
Thanks again!

I haven't seen all of the choirs that are performing- But I talked to a Bellmont kid after they were done performing; I think they'll get at least 2nd runner up -
Up to what place are they giving awards out to?
I hope everyone had a good time. There were some definite surprises (shocks??- Bellmont) in the results, but I hope that didn't destroy what seemed, overall, to be a positive experience. The Lakeview people feel as though they made some very valuable friends and truly loved getting to know everyone. Every choir brought their A-game, and seemed to enjoy being on the stage. It was awesome to see three (?) Michigan choirs who decided to try the show choir 'business'. It's like the director of Bellmont, Ric Geise (very wise man), told me a year ago: it's all about the music and the joy of sharing that music and creativity.
Our choir doesn't win a lot of awards, but they pour their entire heart and soul into everything they do. They inspire so many younger children to keep on making music and so many older people to see the good in today's youth. All of these show choirs do that exact same thing. The way I see it, everyone was a winner today!!!
A huge congrats to Churubusco! We truly fell in love with all of our awesome guests!!

ps. Grosse Isle wasn't disqualified, because it was their first competition ever. In fact, they just started their show choir...in Oct, I think. The kids choreographed it, etc. Someone gently explained the rules to them. We thought that was kinder. (Honestly, we're just so happy to no longer be one of two MI show choirs!!)

So how is the solo competition working? Is there a separate room for it, or is it the "vocal solo" spots between choirs? If it's the latter, there don't seem to be many...
Actually, we decided to put the solos on the main stage between the choirs because we do have a smaller Invitational. That way the solos don't get 'lost in the shuffle'. We have had a few solo additions since I posted the schedule, so apparently there have been some changes in the schedule I posted.
We're so excited to see y'all!! And Bellmont - we'll see you Friday night!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!

We're loading our truck tomorrow....and leaving on Friday during school.
Hopefully the weather will be in our favor. " border="0" alt="happy.gif" />
I can't wait to perform and see what the other groups got.
Thanks for posting the schedule.
Yeah, please post the schedule soon! I'm really excited to know who all is coming to your invitational!
Sorry this took so long. We're a small choir, and it took a while to find the parent in charge of the schedule! But, you know what they say...Small choir - BIG heart!
