For your information Anthony, I was at the same lunch table as Ms. Goode was (along with Adam Peters, and Cam), and I am friends with her older sister, though, she probably didn't know either of those things :-p.

Tis true. We have so much fun at our table sittings, as you observed.

I agree with whoever said earlier that this particular topic should be left alone. I've been on showchoir.com for a little over a year now (I think) and I've never heard such a large debate or argument ect. The reason I love this site is because it gives the show choirs feedback and support for all the effort we put in during the season, and I think that it should always be that way.

to let you know, the person who started that and decided to say "never mind" was a first year member and has never been in show choir before. They are only used to our basketball games against Aquinas where there is again that element of being rude to the competition. he likes to push buttons... alot.
even though i was not in the gym for this i did hear much about it and i am very sorry for what they did, it was rather rude.
Sorry Paulla! blushing.gif i was in a rush typing this morning.

I bet i can guess who this was, and it kinda sux that there are some people that do that! There is no reason for stuff like that but ya...i guess whats done is done!

the other GCS student repesented in this forum was not defending anything. the rest of the posts are from alumni of GCS and are now only spectators. What Paula was saying is that show choir shouldnt be about the rivalries with other groups or the badmouthing of other choirs, as seen in alot of forums. I dont think we have to defend anything either, and therefore we arent. we also dont bad mouth choirs when they beat us. When Clinton didnt take GC at Sullivan this weekend, do you think they went off and had a fit just because they were 1RU? No, thier director formally congradulated the director of Hart and was very compelemtary Im sure. they are the best example of good sportsman like conduct and I respect them for that. lets all take a lesson from them.

again, GCS is not defending anything between the two students represented in this topic.

I have not responded to this topic yet but all I have to say is that Show Choir, Choir, Band, any of those is about education first and winning second. Show Choir is supposed to be helping us become better dancers, better singers, better performers, and that in the end adds to the win. A win will be remembered for a year tops. A skill you learned in the process will last a lifetime. I know show choir will never change but If its one thing I hope to do as a senior it is to make people realize that when a vocal teacher or a dance instructor gives you something to do ... You're response shouldn't be "Will that make us win?" It should be Will it improve something that will help us through our highschool, college and life career? Show Choir is competetive and I get that, but why does everyone always have to fight on this stupid website??? If it were up to me this would not be called showchoir.com... It would be called drama.com because even though this website helps us get to know everyone and talk about our love of show choir... In the end it creates a whole bunch of drama that just ends up making show choir not fun and makes everyone hate eachother. Because of this rivalry I dont talk to my friends from other schools because when I go to their room they freak out and say that I cant see that person because I am from a particular school. SO i leave you all with this and I say it often. Can't we all just get along? I am serious I know a lot of drama came from my particular school in this topic, but when people get all defensive, that shows that you are just about as bad. If you aknowledge it, then it becomes a reality. If everyone waited for someone else to put the horrible drama causing comment on this website, then noone would ever put the horrible drama causing comment to begin with. Peace... and shout out to genevieve to let you all know that earthday is APRIL 22nd!

Hey GCS kids, I don't think that you have to defend yourselves on here. You won GC and deserved it. If someone has a problem with it then so be it. Hoping you continue to have a great rest of your season.

Logan kids you are all great! Let's get healthy this week and let's take what we have and bring it to the next 2 competitions we have. You guys have a great show and remember what Mr. Risgaard told you guys. This is the first year in many, many years that CA has made finals in not only their first competition out but in everyone during the season. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished, I know your parents are!

All of us at Prairie are not upset if we get beat by a group that is just flat out better than us, and according to the judges at Western Dubuque GCS is better than us. The thing is, judges at Monona Grove don't agree.

Yes, judges don't agree. That was a show that was weeks ago. Groups work on things in between those breaks. Then last night's show came along and each group showed the judges how much they have improved. Those differences in the judges' opinions between shows are what keeps things interesting. Besides, isn't everyone entitled to their own opinion?

Besides, why is there so much arguing over this topic anyway? The point of show choir is not to win...at least, it shouldn't be. Each group went out yesterday to entertain the audience. Each group went out yesterday with a message that they wanted to portray through their song and dance. Each group went out yesterday to have fun. Those are the the things that these competitions should be about. Not about who is better than who or what-not. Whatever happened to friendly, respectful competition? It isn't about the trophies, it's about the fulfillment of the performance.
