NCASA presented the 2016 William Peace University North Carolina Middle School Show Choir Competition on Saturday May 7 at Cox Mill High School. The competition followed a prelims-finals format, with the top six show choirs moving on to the evening finals. And those were, in order of final ranking:
6- Randolph Middle School of Charlotte with a rating of “Excellent”
5- Mt. Airy Middle School with a rating of “Excellent”
4- Hanes Middle School of Winston-Salem with a rating of “Superior”
State Third Place- 71st Classical Middle School of Fayetteville with a rating of “Superior”
State Runner-up- Harris Road Middle School of Concord with a rating of “Superior”
State Champion- Jay M Robinson Middle School of Charlotte
Jay M Robinson won with a medley from “The Muppets,” while Harris Road sang “Here Comes the Sun,” “Beautiful Day,” and “Walking on Sunshine,” and 71st Classical performed selections from “Beautiful, the Carole King Musical.”
We also presented several superlative awards:

Best Female Solo- Kalea Johnson of Brawley Middle School
Best Male Stage Presence- Jaden Buksbazen of Jay M Robinson Middle School

The middle school event will be May 7 hosted by Cox Mill HS in Concord.
There is only one division for MS and HS. We will recognize the top three choirs from the morning at the Morning Awards. We will recognize the top three choirs at the afternoon awards and present the specialty awards in the afternoon. The top six overall choirs will advance to the Finals. The evening awards will follow the Finals where we will recognize the top three overall choirs.

Just to be clear, are there any divisions other than High School and Middle School? Wanted to double check since there are separate morning and afternoon awards ceremonies.

The high school division is confirmed for April 15-16, 2016 at Atkins High School in Winston-Salem. Mixed preliminaries will be Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. Single-Gender preliminaries will be Saturday morning.
The Finals will be Saturday evening. The top six choirs from all preliminaries will compete again to determine the champion in each division and the Grand Champion.
UPDATE - The NCASA Show Choir Committee has changed the format to a Preliminaries - Finals format instead of the Regionals - State format of past years. This alters the dates in that now all events will take place over two weekends.
May 6 - High School A Cappella Competition at Cox Mill HS in Concord
May 7 - Middle School Show Choir at Cox Mill HS (Preliminaries in morning and afternoon, Finals in evening)
The high school weekend and site are to be determined. They will be posted here once they are confirmed.
Registration for all show choir events opens on August 31. All are free and open to NCASA member schools.

NC Association for Scholastic Activities has set the dates for the 2016 William Peace University NC Show Choir Competition:
Regionals: April 8 and 15 in four sites across NC
State Final: May 6 and 7 at Atkins High School in Winston-Salem.
NEW for 2016: We will have Single-Gender and a cappella divisions added to the existing mixed choir division for high schools. Only mixed choir will be presented for middle schools although a few girls choirs compete there.
More details (including specific Regional sites and dates) will be published on this thread as they are developed. The Triangle Regional is set for NC School of Science and Mathematics on April 15.
