Sumrall High School "Legacy" really had an awesome experience at Opelika this year. We got to see the middle school performance on Friday night and even got to enjoy the snow before the competition as well. Your competition was very well coordinated and we thoroughly enjoyed being there.

Legacy was 2nd runner up in the small division and had the Best Male Vocalist winner as well as the Southern Showcase Spirit Award!

Can't wait till next year!!

Wait, wait , wait... their dance coach was one of the judges? Is this true? And if so isn't that a MAJOR conflict of interests?

No one of the judges was NOT our dance coach. He was for Esprit (our new womens choir) but not for encores!

In my opinion, Madison Central produced the best sound taking into consideration their size. They sang great and looked good as well. They were easily the smallest group in finals and in my opinion really held their own. With this success in their first competition, I think their future is unlimited.
i really wish that i was able to see their show.

For those who were there, how was Madison Central? I know that they have a newer group, so it's good to hear them making some noise.

And just to clarify, none of the judges have choreographed or worked with the Enterprise Encores in the past 7 years. Randy Sage did some of the choreography for Esprit, the women's group.

Very fun and interesting weekend. I enjoyed myself except for the drive back Saturday night. Congrats to Enterprise. Albertville performed the best show I believe I've EVER seen and I know the best I've ever played in my many years of show choir. Not being named Grand Champion doesnt mean you were not the best. Knowing you killed a show and you tore a stage apart while you performed is much more satisfying. Looking forward to this weekend in Nashville.

Does anyone know the middle school results? Or did it get cancelled due to the snow?

Thought I posted this earlier, but I guess I didn't finalize it. LOL! So here it goes again:

First of all, Randy Sage, the judge you are referring to, is probably the most unbiased of any judge. In the morning, a group he actually did choreograph a song for, Homewood girls, he had in last place so there goes your conspiracy theory. Next, with the ranking system we use, the outcome was not even close. We do judges ranking and then throw out their highest and lowest ranking. Enterprise finished with all first place votes, Albertville finished with two 2nd place votes and a 3rd place vote, and Homewood finished with two 3rd place votes and a 2nd place votes. As for your theory about Auburn, I would save that for your choir room. You never know who might read this and for you to say your group was better than the GC might offend a few people. I think the judges spoke pretty unanimously. I hope all of you had a wonderful time at the competition and we look forward to seeing yall next year. Good luck the rest of the year.

Thanks so much for clearing up that issue. I knew it seemed very wierd that something like that would happen... especially at Opelika. That competition is always one of my very favorites and I have never had a bad experience there! Oh and just to clear things up... I don't think that a show choir has to have an elaborate set to win GC, but it's unusual to see a group win with no set at all. But obviously it does happen. So congrats to Enterprise and everyone else. Please somebody hurry up and post the Enterprise vid on YouTube so that I can see it!!!

Great job Auburn Varsity!!! Loved your show, especially "Blue Moon". Had heard so much about your show since Diamond classic, but I was backstage and didn't see it there. Glad I got the chance to see it at Opelika. Good Luck!

Being an active member of Auburn High "Varsity Singers" i would just like to clear things up! PLZ! dont associate/refer any comments that my be offensive or tear down another group with our group UNLESS they are an ACTIVE member of "Varsity Singers" BTW it will never happen because we have NEVER been and NEVER will be a group that BASHES another group...( publicly)

but

OVERALL it was an excellent experience because this is the ONLY year we have made finals under the direction of Eron Smith! and to do so for the past two weeks is just AWESOME!!!

By the way, for those who didn't get a chance to see Madison, they did an AMAZING job. They were up there singing for the right reasons and having a great time doing it. They didn't have any flashy sets or crazy visual effects. It was refreshing to see a A group get up there and rock it like they did.

Thanks for your kind words. This was Madison Central's first ever competition, and we could not have been more proud of our students. The audience reaction was highly encouraging. Thanks to Darren Dale for hosting an outstanding competition again this year.
