You're not having an off-year at all. My last post explains what I was trying to say.

There was an error made by the tabulations committee at Pekin and the Best Vocals and Best Choreography trophies were incorrectly awarded to Twinsburg at the preliminary awards ceremony. The two Twinsburg directors personally delivered the trophies to the Mundelein director as soon as the error was discovered. The Twinsburg and Mundelein students showed a great deal of class throughout a difficult situation.

From my perspective, this was one of the best groups of finalists I have ever experienced at a competition. The students and parents from every group seemed positive, supportive and friendly. I will truly miss MtZDad and his ever-present smile!

We are proud to have received the First Runner-Up trophy and congratulate Mundelein on a well-deserved Grand Championship.

It would be nice to see a competition thread that remained as positive as the kids at the competition.

Best wishes to all,
Nancy Slife

Twinsburg got both Outstanding Choreo and Vocals in prelims.

I have to give major props to the Grand Champion soloist from Mundelin I think... he was awesome!! I was completely blown away!!!!

And congrats to all the show choirs!! This was one of my favorite comps I've been too!!

Apparently there was a mixup in the judging...I heard through the grapevile that Mundelein was supposed to receive both those awards...if I were John Neubauer, I would have been LIVID.

On the other hand...those that believe that Twinsburg and Mt. Zion should have received the top two spots...did you honestly not pay attention to Mundelein's ENTIRE show?! Flippin' amazing.

Don't worry though... everyone seems to butcher their name. You aren't the first, and definitely aren't the last.

My post was supposed to be a good one, correcting the one that said Crete was having an off-year. I personally don't think Crete is having an off-year at all.

Please direct your comments at the correct posts.

They have a new director this season but really don't look bad, considering.

Is Crete having an off year? They're usually really good. ... Congrats to Mundelein ... can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks!

Tyler.

Actually no mundeleine got vocal & choreo captions..there was a mistake in calculations or something but they never announced it.

I wasn't there but I heard that there was a mistake in the calculations and mundelein actually won the captions but since they had already announced it they couldn't retract it. But congrats to all the choirs anyway, I hear it was a tough comp!

i definatly agree- i had never seen twinsburg before but after the show i was an instant fan!

I agree that all the Championship groups were a joy to watch - I wasn't sure who was going to end up on top, but I figured it would be Mundelein or Twinsburg. The only fault I found with Twinsburg was the choir's propensity to rush the combo. It seemed as if the combo must have had significant sequencing going on that didn't allow them to pick up the tempo at all. The choir had great energy, great vocals & diction (reminded me of Mt. Prospect 2 years ago), and tight choreography - a real class act. The combo's inability to adjust to the choir's energy was distracting to me in almost every song in the finals (less so in prelim's).

... sure would like another crack at Onalaska.

My personal placements were:

GC - Twinsburg
1RU - Mundelein
2RU - Mt. Zion
3RU - Palatine
4RU - Southwestern
5RU - Crete-Monee

This was an excellent competition. There wasn't a group in finals that wasn't a joy to watch.

that's so sad about El Paso Gridley!!

But back to the comp, is anyone else surprised with the results?? i mean no offense to Mundeleine (I didnt get to see there show) but i thought twinsberg and & mtz would take gc and 1st ru for sure.

omg yeah i was totally agree, i was shocked with the results, and with the Single-Gender division i was sure the faces would win. but whatever...............seems a bit fishy to me, but u win some lose some
