Wow... he must really think a lot of himself

Also, for the 2nd consecutive year, one judge in particular has very interesting results...

to be honest I was talking to someone when the question was asked but from what I heard the emcee asked if we won last year? And something to the effect of if we would win this year? Being put on the spot she responded we didn't last year but we will this year. Kind of an unfortunate event to happen. I can also attest to her feeling bad and hope we can just put the incident behind us.

That sums it up perfectly. I wish you guys didn't feel bad for this because, really... it wasn't that big of a deal. The people that MADE it a big deal are the ones with the problems. What ever happened to being a little bit competitive? Its not like she said, "We're going to win and shove every other group's faces in the snow... and stomp on their skulls... cuz we da best!"

Well I will get on with my thoughts

Xavier- You guys deserved it. I did not get the opportunity to see your finals show, however I saw the one during the day and it was fantastic! Very well done and I like some of the changes in the show. I don't really know what it is about your 4th song but I like it and dislike it at the same time but I can't figure out why. Regardless, you guys are incredibly talented and must be doing something right if you've won 6 GC's in a row. Congrats!

Muscatine- That opener is so sick. Absolutely unbelievable. The only problem I see with the front half of your show, which is also present in the latter half, is that some kids are prone to oversinging and they stick out. The later half I thought lost steam a little bit. You guys are headed in the right direction!

IC High- I wasn't particularly intrigued by the show this year. I feel that some of the songs are dull and don't have a lot going on in them. "James Brown" was a little bit sloppy. I hope to see you guys at Great River so I can see how much you guys have improved

As for the bad sportsmanship I apologize for anything my school said that I know about, and don't know about. I hope that our attitudes will change for the better in the future.

I just want to say that even though this competition was small, it was the most fun that we every had at a show choir competition. I speak for all of Westerm Dubuque 5th Avenue when I say that. And even though we made finals and got last it was still fun. We didn't care that we got last because as long as we were having fun nothing else mattered. There was alot of talent there too. Especially with all the finalist groups. Im very glad we were able to perform with you guys and I hope all of you enjoyed seeing us perform. Thanks Mt. Pleasant and everyone else that was there!

I must say... I too agree with Spencer. The emcee created that awkward situation for the Xavier girl. I'm really thinking I need to start a class called "Emcee 101 - What not to say/ask?". In general, I really don't understand why a director would hire someone who knows NOTHING about show choir and expect them to be fine on stage. (I mean really- reading caption awards first before anything else in finals? Reading EVERYTHING out of the program? Asking weird questions like "How old are you?" Give me a break.) It would be like hiring me as an NFL commentator. I know hardly anything about the subject matter. As for what the Xavier girl said... I found NOTHING wrong with it at all. It was NOT a diss or a slight to any school. She simply was enthusiastic about her school and was ready to compete... we WERE at a show choir competition. It was all in the spirit of competition, and I feel that people are getting a little too PC about it.

It was a bit of a sad day. Sportsmanship was low at this competition. One certain school in particular had major issues with this... some of it not even being show choir related (most of it was though). I, sadly even became a victim of this bad sportsmanship conduct. All I'll say is there is NO reason that anyone should be sexually harassed whilst walking down a hallway, let alone being a hallway of a show choir competition. It was despicable. ONE poor choice of words can really send your schools reputation in the dumpster, when it wasn't all that grand to begin with. Thank God I met some wonderful girls from the same group who made me see that not ALL of the students were a bunch of unintelligent twits.

As for the show choir aspect of Mt. Pleasant... it was a fantastic day!

Xavier- I can speak on behalf of all your fans at Muscatine to say that we are thrilled to lose to such an amazingly talented and committed choir. It was my fourth time getting to witness this beautiful show... and it just gets better and better EVERY time. That ballad is just hauntingly beautiful. I can't get it out of my brain! Congrats again on this clean sweep and obvious win.

Thanks to everyone at Mt. Pleasant for hosting!

It was quite an experience all day long for the performers dealing with the solo mics cutting in and out, and with the groups on stage fighting against the mics' reverb! I wish they would mic the stage more and maybe add some more speakers in the audience so the reverb would get fixed. Now with them right in front of the stage pointing straight outward, all the sound goes straight out, straight into the back wall, and comes back onto the stage about a half beat later.

I didn't get to see many shows, but heard from quite a few people how good Davenport Central and Muscatine were in finals especially. I feel bad for what happened during the day round awards ceremony. The emcee was out of line in asking that question and it was a very unprofessional display from him. Regardless, that is not the way that we like to represent ourselves.

Round 3 of the Xavier/Davenport Central/Muscatine battle royale will take place at Kennedy! It's so weird how we're following each other around...
