Bumping this topic up....

Does anyone have points from either day round or finals? I wanted to see who was close to making finals also.

My only thought on "Jai Ho" is... is there anyway to get rid of the "Jersey Shore" fist pump move you do so often when singing the words "Jai Ho"... it just isn't effective... and makes me think of Snooki getting punched in the face.

Specific reasons I want it kept in there.

I can't wait to see Wash at Great River!

What an amazing day!

First off, thank you all so much for the kind words on my emcee job. I never dreamt that I would have such an amazing time getting to know the thousands of people in the auditorium. I've been holding onto those hundreds of trolls for almost 4 years now (since my senior year in high school), wondering what the hell I was going to do with them, and recently realized this would be the perfect departure. As for my job performance- I definitely learned what NOT to do as an emcee from all of the horrible ones over the years that I've come on this website to complain about after a competition is over. No one wants to just sit there and have someone talk at them.. someone who really knows nothing about the show choirs, except the information he/she is reading from the program. The audience should NEVER feel like the emcee is "above" them in any standing... I believe that the audience should feel that the emcee is ONE of them. I want to thank everyone for making my day so fun... answering my general trivia questions, my show choir trivia questions, dealing with my Troll give aways, etc. It was a true honor.

As for the show choirs I saw... I made sure after announcing each group to walk (or more times than none, scurry) off the side of the stage, and walk to the back of the auditorium and watch each group. So... I saw every single show choir perform yesterday. Yippeee!

Everyone did such a fantastic job!

Momentum- What a deserved win! I have NEVER seen this level of dedication from Momentum before... its HUGE and really refreshing. Your show is stellar. I loved ALL of it. Not one song was boring or left me wanting more. It was so weird to hear a while ago that Dr. Kreitzer would pick "Harbor for A New World" for the third time in eight years. But... as I told him after your finals performance... it gets better and better with each time doing it. Third time was REALLY the charm. It was hauntingly beautiful. Sitting in the balcony listening to those vocals really got me misty... the only time of the entire day I really felt the emotion filling the entire auditorium. The soloist is just fantastic... I think I told him three times during the day... I just love his voice. "Jai Ho" was just soo energetic! Get that choreography clean, and you will do some SERIOUS damage the rest of the season. I'm worried for Kennedy now with my Musc children! My only thought on "Jai Ho" is... is there anyway to get rid of the "Jersey Shore" fist pump move you do so often when singing the words "Jai Ho"... it just isn't effective... and makes me think of Snooki getting punched in the face. Congrats again- Keep it up so you can lay down the law at Great River! I've not been a big fan of your shows for some time now... but that all changed yesterday!

Some final random thoughts and stories-

I thought the most improved groups from prelims to finals were Lincoln Southwest and Gretna... they really stepped up their game. ESPECIALLY Gretna.

I ended up breaking the Best Male Soloist award. I dropped it. Whoops. We'll get you a new one Wash boy! Sorry!

I gave out somewhere around 200 Trolls yesterday... who knew Trolls were so cool?

Washington kids are really fun! Thanks for bringing so much energy to the competition.

Was super pumped for Xavier making finals! What an amazing program! Thanks for coming down too Xhil guys.

Whilst walking off the stage before a group entered, I knocked into a performer and apologized right away... she said "Watch where you're going fat ass!" (Instead of being offended, I found it really comical. She probably was stressed!)

I love Gretna's lights they have in their show! The shadows of performers on the walls were really cool.

I gathered some clips of all the finalist groups that I am compiling into a video together... it should be up shortly. I got some really cool angles and back stage views, being the emcee and all.

They are actually on a 3 win streak....

They have now won Muscatine and Waukee. Their last competition before that was C.R. Kennedy, where they placed 2nd (losing to C.R. Jefferson Ovation).

Nope, it's definitely two. They got second at Kennedy last year, but still managed to make finals.

Also:

Momentum's band was -excellent-. Everyone's going to be talking about Jai Ho, but the band was crazy during that Michael Jackson medley at the beginning. Loved it.

Also: Let's not forget Celebration. I knew they were going to be one to see as well, and I really enjoyed their show.

Wow. Just wow. Xubes... are you kidding me? 2nd place after the day round? 2nd?!? That is freaking unbelievable! We are all so proud of you guys. Don't hang your heads because you fell to 4th... you made some of those big boys sweat going into finals. And, after all, you won your division (still undefeated and on a two competition streak) by beating out other great groups like Celebration and you made finals. Sooo ridiculously awesome! Also a special shoutout to Jack and Cameron for dealing with their mic situations in finals so well.

I have never seen a group enjoy performing a song as much as Momentum enjoys "Jai Ho". It just looks like fun! I loved the show but this was the high point. The ballad is great as well, if maybe a little familiar. Looking out for big things from Mo this year. Sooo much better than last year and back to the strong Momentum we all love to watch! Keep reppin' C.R.!

Adam - best emcee ever, thanks for the Pope troll!

P.S. Thank you Ben Rivera for the dance lesson on your opener

A huge congratulations to all the groups that performed today! Just finally home and ready for bed. The only mishap we had was a leaky roof!

Thanks to everyone who ventured down to Muscatine for the day!

WHAT A DAY! I have so much to say... but I just left the competition a bit ago and have some Taco Bell to enjoy with Mr. Kevin Chase. Then I must get him to the airport in the next two hours. Cat nap time!

I'll post my full thoughts tomorrow night.

I had such a fun day! Hope you all did too!
