MW 2006 & Blipper thanks for your comments, it sure is nice to hear your unbiased opinion after hearing from judges who seemed to obviously be defending their midwest area. Blipper as far as your comments about it being sad because you want to see groups from other areas, well I can assure you, that you are correct that when you travel as far as West Jones did and get this result it dosen't encourage you to do it again. I could go on but let me stop before I say something I will regret later. Let me say a thanks to the Edgewood parents as they bent over backward to do all they could to help us put our show on the stage.
I did the whole tabulation thing throughout the finals and I had it as this:
GC: Waubonsie Valley "Sound Check"
1RU: Mt. Zion "Swingsations"
2RU: West Jones "Imagination"
3RU: Sullivan "Singers"
4RU: Waubonsie Valley "Girls in Heels"
5RU: Southwestern "Esprit"
Vocals: Waubonsie Valley - DEFINATLEY
Choreography: Mt. Zion - DEFINATLEY
Show Design: West Jones - DEFINATELY
This is EXACTLY how it SHOULD HAVE come out in my opinion as well. Sorry Sullivan and Girls in Heels, but I just don't think with an unbiased panel that you would have placed where you did, your vocals and overall show concept were really lacking and though I thought West had a few intonation problems in the ballad, they were leaps and bounds above both of you guys. I think its always very difficult for a Mt Zion to go over to Johnston like they did last year and not make finals, and much like this, these midwest judges favored the choreographers and stylings and "name recognition" of the midwest groups over an "outsider". It's kinda sad actually... we all want these groups from other states to come to various competitions and we are excited when they sign up, but then perplexed when they don't fit it to the "political" circle. It just goes to show how good qualified unbiased judges are hard to come by.
Thoughts and prayers to the student who lost a parent, great job to WV, they were awesome!! Mt Zion was great and West Jones know that everyone near me in the audience said they were shocked at the results and I didn't talk to a single person who didn't think you should've been 3rd.
The only group I saw live was Waubonsie Valley Sound Check and let me just say that their vocals may have been the best I have heard in all my time watching show choir. All their soloist were excellent, and from beginning to end the vocals just were flawless. I have seen better show design, choreo, and costuming, but it's hard to argure with the vocals I heard last night.
First off, I want to give out my condolences to the performer from West Jones whose mother passed away tonight. West Jones had to leave before the final awards were announced because one of the performer's mother had passed away back in Laurel, Mississippi. It was amazing to see the way that the show choir family of West Jones came together.
Today was a great competition and although I complained earlier in the forum about the number of competitors that were performing today, I couldn't have been happier! It was definitely a quality of quantity day.
I got to see all of the competitors in the night show tonight and I was floored by the talent. I also want to give a shout out to my alma mater, Music Warehouse...You can tell how hard the seniors and other performers have worked so far this year. I think you will turn some heads and do amazing things this year, I wish I could go out to Los Angeles and watch you guys show the West what little ole Ellettsville, Indiana can bring. Your show was great and I can't wait to go to a few more competitions this year and see it as it progresses. This being your first time performing in front of a live crowd, the sky is the limit for you this year!

My point totals, I had 1RU through 4RU within around eight points.
Overall, it was an amazing competition and I am thankful to everyone that came!
Wow, I think it's pretty rare to see a single gender group do so well in finals! They haven't even won any prep divisions this year. That's fantastic. I'd love to see there show/know their secret!

How about some of ya'll living in the Ellettsville area keep us informed on how much snow you have up there. I have a feeling the drive from Laurel MS is not going to be fun. Any information would be appreciated.
Right now there is roughly 4-6inches of snow on the ground. It is really windy so that makes it worse. Snow drifts aren't terrible but you kids from the South are going to enjoy the snow! haha
