Who were the judges for the comp this year? I heard that it was a little different then prior times. Congrats to Northrup, from being in DeKalbs choir, I know it has always been a tight race for GC and congrats to DeKalb, after seeing the video, it was a great show and I'm sure it was very hard for the judges to make up their mind. Best of luck next Saturday!!!
I know that one of the judges was Jeff Cox. other than that I have no idea.

The only thing I can think of that was different judging wise was all-female groups didn't get zeros in the male vocal sound category. In the past, that has essentially forced Bluffton to be an all-mixed competition because any female group was practically guaranteed to get last.
I think that is all that was new this year. Does anybody know of anything else?

COngrats to everyone who preformed. I had a awesome time, and it was great preforming with the best choirs once again. Good luck to everyone this season and i hope ur prepared for the new "Charisma" :D see ya soon
Northrop - You guys shocked me. I don't know that anyone really "lost" at this contest, you just "won".
By the end of your opener, it was clear that you wanted it, and you put on a great show.
Congratulations on a tremendous achievement, wins like this are the best, and don't
happen often. You should be proud! The choreography was clean, but (in my opinion) not
the most difficult or the best executed at this contest. What gave you guys that tiny edge
that you just had a bit more power vocally.
Dekalb - Where to begin....I can't imagine how crushing it is to find out such a long winning streak
has ended. However, you are still the choir won 12 years in a row...one loss is not going to
tarnish your reputation as one of the best groups in Indiana. Choreographically you guys
were amazing...so sharp! Vocally it just seemed a bit shallow. Again, this dosn't mean you
guys weren't amazing as always it just made the difference of one placement. As far as
show and song selection, I think yours was superior this fall. I'm sure this spring you will
ready to battle any group for a gc, just like always.
Pretty much. I saw both DeKalb and Northrop - DeKalb's choreography was tighter, especially for this early in the season, but Charisma was just on vocally. Their vocals were top-notch and it just gave them that edge, especially considering that we are talking first and foremost about "choirs". I had Northrop in the back of my mind after their ballad, which just blew me away. It was a well-deserved win for Northrop, and it was a very close and obviously devastating loss for DeKalb. I just want them to know that they didn't have a crap show, and they did extremely well. It was just how the cards played out, and in any case I think it was time for the streak to end anyway.
And because I'm biased, I'd like to give a little shout out for East Noble's Premiere Edition - they started off this year with a lot of new girls that had never performed before, and for this early in the season they did very well. Love ya, ladies!

So this was a different kind of Bluffton in a couple of ways. Being inside helped all the choirs - they actually had a decent sound system and lighting haha
The church auditorium (which use to be the high school I believe) was a great place for the comp to be moved to, I know I appreciated being out of the drizzle.
And I gotta say Congratulations to Charisma! That was the best Bluffton show I've ever seen from Northrop! You guys really gave it your all tonight, all of us alum are so proud of you!
I still think it's amazing what all those choirs can accomplish by mid-September... Keep up the good work everyone!
so im out in colorado now and i did not get to see everybody, but i hear that charisma won? congrats! i know its been i long road and im sure everybody was amazing!
In case anyone was wondering, apparently the competition has been moved to the Life Church (former high school) at 428 S. Oak street because of the weather.
My prediction- lol
GC- Dekalb "Classic Connection"
Yeah, 'prediction' could probably be replaced with 'whats going to happen', 12 years running is hard to ignore.
