A HUGE shout out to the Warrensburg students and parents as they were just amazing, kind, and heart-warming people. We loved having them in Lincoln for the day.
I was able to watch finals, so I'll give a little rundown on my thoughts.
I loved GINW's show. I thought the energy was non-stop and those kids devoted their whole hearts into that show. It wasn't the cleanest show, or the best vocally, but it was an all-around exceptional show.
Norris was solid for yet another year. They've got some wrinkles to iron out, but their show has and will come along even further with time. By the way, I LOVE THE BOWTIES. I feel the need to mention their energy as well, as their closer was uptempo, difficult, and just absolute fun. I can't wait to see their progression throughout the year.
Ankeny was my favorite show last week and was, yet again, my favorite show this week. Some of my friends thought the rugged opening and second number was a bit slow, but I enjoyed the force and passion behind it. And "Love Takes Over" as a closer was an excellent choice. As Adam said in another forum, Ankeny has come a long way over the past two years, and their placement these past two weeks hasn't given them enough credit as to how devoted those performers are to their show. MAJOR props. (Can't wait to see a video of that show sometime).
Express's show is way more difficult than shows they've done in recent years, and you could tell that they've made some pretty big leaps with this year in how their show is executed. BRS performed at their premier night, and they sounded tons better tonight than they did on Thursday. I don't know what changed, but it was great. Personally, I liked some other shows and their execution a little more than East's, but Express is yet another group to look out for this year.
Lincoln Southwest is still LSW but with a few differences. From the order of the show to the song selection, LSW has slowly turned over a few new stones while keeping their same vocal intensity and killer choreography. I have fallen in love with Resonance's shows for the past few years, and I don't think that this year will be any different.
Ahhh yes. Millard West. I admired WIG's 2014 show and how much Mr. B has changed and how much he will change this program for the future. I like how this year's show takes similar themes from 2014 while adding its own sparkle and value. Overall, I'm glad I've been able to see this show again, and will see it many more times this season. (side note: S/O to BOWTIES and Drew Firkins for being an awesome performer ).
I have heard that this was the smoothest running Midwest Cup for the past several years and I'm glad I could be a part of it. Thanks to everyone who competed and took part in all of the fun .
I like your predictions showqhoir, but I'll flip the top two around since we're just shooting from the hip a bit for these first few competitions. I'm going to SW's concert tonight so I might come on and reaffirm my prediction or switch stuff around based on how that goes.
