How many schools compete in Raves? One of my groups competes there every other year, but I've never been able to get up there for the competition.

Does anyone know what weekend the Southern CA Invitational will be in 2005?

Oh, by the way, the Redding Convention Center is the BEST. I love it-- the stage is huge so you don't have to worry about space problems, there are plenty of seats, and the audience is very supportive.

Thank you very much! Actually, we went during STAR Testing. It's a surprise they let us go considering that our school might get taken over if we don't do well this year. I have to make up Chemistry and CAT/6 Reading and whatnot. Urgh. Oh well, it's worth it.

Yeah Apple Valley loved going to RAVES but because California STAR Testing is always blocked off in those two weeks that RAVES happens for southern california we could never go...and we really want to go next year so we would love if you guys could really try to move the dates earlier or later. PLLLLEEEAAAASSSSEEEE!!! lol

Mt. Eden was absolutely awesome! Great show and well deserved first place and sweepstakes.

I agree, too bad it's the same weekend as So. Cal. It would be great to have some groups from southern CA. Bonita Vista, Apple Valley and Serano have competed in RAVES, but it has been awhile since they have. There is just no way we can change our dates....Redding Convention use is the problem.

Mount Eden was there. RAVES is SO fun. Too bad it's the same weekend as SoCal though. I still think it's too bad Enterprise doesn't go anymore.

I don't think many of you know or have heard about the RAVES Festival, but thought I would post the results anyway. All winners receive a trophy and a monetary award.

Large High School:
Mt. Eden High School, Hayward, CA $200 + Sweepstakes $300)
Bear River High School, Grass Valley, CA $100
Deer Valley High School, Antioch, CA $100

Small High School:
Declo High School, Declo, ID $200
San Marin High School, Novato, CA $100
Linden High School, Linden, CA $100

Middle School:
Magnolia Intermediate, Grass Valley, CA $200
Ochoa Middle, Hayward, CA $100
Parsons Jr. High, Redding, CA $100

We would love to see some groups from Southern California compete at the festival. There are 5 judges: 2 vocal, 2 dance and one showmanship (40% vocal, 40% dance and 20% showmanship). We give away more than $8,500 in scholarships and awards.
