thanx for the info.....much appreciated.....the show is addictive....

hey.....were you the soloist for Waiting for Life?  From my memory you look like the girl who did it.  Well, whoever it was really kept the show going during a costume change.  Great voice.  Thanks again for the info.

Nah, thats Nina. The soloist is Naomi. They do look a little alike though. Nina was one of the soloists for Rain Down.

"We Dance" is from Once on This Island...it's an obscure musical from a while back. Also, there's a solo called "Waiting for Life" also from Once on this Island, if you cared to know! I love how descants know all our songs and can post them for us. haha, wierd, anyways---hope that helps!

Whoa Whoa Whoa!!!!!!!!  Hey now! It's one thing giving your opinion about how you didn't approve of them making finals! But, saying they weren't talented is anther thing! I have a lot of personal relationships with a lot of those guys and they ARE talented. They can sing, they can dance, they can play sports well, they have good grades, they have a lot of talent! You are being a little bitter, of course. And yes there was Harmony you deafass. Do you want me to send you their arrangemens??

The ballad might have been a lack of an all group thing, but it sure got the audience into it. They had a lot of solos which made up for it. If it was just ONE soloist then yes, that would be a bit over the top..

Note: This was there first time ever performing their WHOLE set...we just started this choir this year and they hadn't even had a pratice performance for an audience ever!

I'm sorry, but these guys had a lot of talent. That's really rude of you to say they had no talent at all. I don't believe they made finals becuase they had penises. I think they made finals because they had good vocals and a good show. The next time you shoot a choir down saying they have no talent, get to know each and every one of them personally first before bashing them like they aren't human beings with nothing special..

THANKS THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to point something out. The saying is not "a group is a strong as its strongest link", its "a group is a strong as its weakest link". Just because there are some supposedly talented people in the group doesn't mean anything. I'm glad you know some of these guys personally, but it is not necessary for me to know them to know how good or bad on stage they are. It is necessary for every single person to be talented if the whole group is to be considered even remotely good. I don't believe that is true of this group.

You said, ".. they can play sports well, they have good grades, they have a lot of talent!" I am not understanding what any of this has to do with show choir and where they placed. That fact that these guys are apparently talented in other areas has no bearings on how talented they willl be in show choir.

To your harmony rebuttals. Sure, there was harmony at points in the music, and I was exaggerating when I said there was no harmony the whole show. But the fact that there was no harmony during any verses gives the impression that they are not good enough, or able enough to hold their parts. The only points that there was harmony was at the last measures of a song, and sometimes choruses. In my book, this doesn't really count, seeing as more than 75% of their show was in unison.

Having five soloists in one song is no better than having just one. The whole choir still isn't singing. (Ooo doesn't count, it takes no effort) With five soloists you are just using more people to cover up the fact that the overall sound of the choir is no good.

At no point during my post did I single out anyone individually. This means I don't like the choir as a whole. I have no clue how well each individual can do by himself. It really doesn't matter how each individual does, seeing as this is a group competition. So stop acting as if I am saying that none of the guys are talented, I don't care about that. All I care about is if they are good as group, which they weren't.

I have a great saying for your "everyone's special" comment. You are unique.....just like everyone else. I never said that the Varsity Singers weren't talented, I just said that they were no good.

Once again, this is my opinion (usually fact), and I don't care at all what you think about it. Thanx, and come again.

Oooook! Too bad they have good vocals. Mrs. Wehie(our genius director) wouln't put them out there on stage if they weren't good or talented. They made finals so OBVIOUSLY they are good. I was reading their score sheets and they scored higher on vocals then most of the girls group there, WHO GIVES A RATASS ABOUT THEIR SEX.

That is really rude that you keep shooting this choir down like they are bad at it. They aren't bad at it at all . They are wonderful singers, wonderful dancers, and wonderful performers. They put on a good show, they entertain the choir like mad and they are great guys.

Oh, and your opinions aren't facts at all, they are scum. Everything you said was totally rude and dickslapish.

These guys had never performed for anyone before. That was their first competition. NOTE they put this whole set together in 3 weeks without any after school practices! Woody(our choreographer) only came twice to choreograph it and they were on their own after that.

Next time you try and shoot a great choir down , know some backgrond information behind it. Don't just hate on the guy's group because you're bitter taht they made finals thinking becuse they have penises...

Message to LoverEnPink: What school are you from?

hatsheput2, I think that I love you, too (DUM DUM dum dum dum dum dum DUM...corny love music playing- you know the song I'm talking about!)....but maybe I'd love you more if i knew who you were...hmmm...

Haha. I was at LC. I saw your set twice. My friend and i were pointing at you the whole time (it was a good thing) and i asked someone what your name was. But anyway, yeah, your awesome. And the fact that you were talking about Kevin and Donald makes me love you more. I love those boys too.

Well, I must say that I am relieved to hear that you were pointing me out in a good way....lol. But, anyway, maybe I'll see you at your competition- I'm going there with a few friends! Even though I don't know who you are (like even whether you are a girl or a boy, although I assume that you are a girl), you should introduce yourself to me! Well, hope to see you there!

If I see you i will do just that. And yeah, lol, i am a girl. Maybe i'll see you tomorrow!

My opinion of the groups

Mixed

Pike - I really like the cultural theme.  At some points the sound was breathy.  The dancing really fit the styles of music.  I wish that more of it would have been understandable.  You guys really have improved since your first comp at CG, I couldn't believe it was the same group.  Major Kudos for doing this w/o your director.

Thanks a lot for the comment. We had a hard time, fo sho, without mr. fronczek, but we all love mrs. kistner to death! about the breathiness, definately, couldn't agree more. We struggled with that, especially in the closer. the problem with it is the difficulty in dance, the EXTREMELY fast dialogue (which, not to forget, was in arabic and spanish), and when combined, these were tough hurdles to beat. we worked countless hours on that song, and in my opinion, never performed it better. I got my finals DVD in the mail today...and (being my own worst critic), i realize so much room for improvement. but realistically, i don't think there was anything else we could have done. I'm 130% satisified with our performance. thanks a lot for your input.

corey

by the way...speaking of my DVD...
i plan on ripping NC's ballad (africa) and trying to clean the sound as well as possible. if anybody has any suggestions on how to get this on the web...please send me a private message or just respond on here. thanks a lot! oh, and if that's against some copyright laws or somethin, tell me so i don't go to jail!!
