There has been many comps where we have been chosen first to perform in finals. That time slot sucks. Our kids aren't allowed to eat before so hopefully the kitchen is still open or they still have food left. Yes, that has happened too. We've never had the opportunity, nor has anyone ever asked, to "switch" times. It just is not done. You perform when you are drawn to pick.

I'm sure many directors have asked to switch times. And in this case, Lebanon's director agreed. But then people had to complain...

Well that's why you should predict performance times based on their prelims scores

Well the contest director actually DID switch them and Pure Elegance had already been in warm up and the contest director came in and told Fairfield's director that Twinsburg had been complaining that the contest staff had made the switch. So Fairfield's director then tried to compromise by putting Choraliers in the 3rd slot, but Twinsburg still said no, so the PE girls had to rush back to the homeroom and tell the Choraliers members that they had about ten minutes to report to the warm up room so they could warm up for about 5 minutes.

And he didn't think he had the ability to switch them, it was nothing more than a simple request.

This was also just a miscalculation of a first time competition.
Our director had no idea how worked up the other directors would be if they switched since we'd never done this before, and I'm sure the only reason they wanted to switch was because Choraliers performed with hardely any time to rest after prelims, and PE went hours before.
So from now on, we know that if 2 groups from the same schools make finals, they're NOT allowed to switch, and we were very sorry for the whole thing.
And Choraliers still had 30 mins to warm up, that's why finals started at 9:30.

Let's start with a director with two finalists thinking he has the ability to switch their performance times from their blind draw placement, receiving a 45 minute preparation extension when called on it, and then having private conversations with a judge following their performance in the finals.

You make the call!

I'm not sure about you, but if I were in two choirs, I'd love to be able to actually SWITCH into my respective costume when I can.

I guess you didn't know we went through a big director change that year did you?

I am in no way putting Edgewood down. I just think coming on here and saying people ALWAYS overlook you and bragging about groups you beat one time in prelims 3 years ago is not the best way to gain support in the show choir community. This is not a court case. Rian and I have the right to state our opinions and we are sticking to them.

well i think in no way that he was coming on here solely to brag. i think he was simply defending edgewood stating that edgewood gets overlooked at many competitions and even though the past few years they have been able to compete with the powerhouses and place well they are still looked over by many groups.

Hahaha, that's your story, and you're sticking to it.

That was a rough year for Teays.

Hahaha, that's your story, and you're sticking to it.

I would just like to say that I thought every group in finals was a quality group- "elite" as people have said.
and even a lot of groups that didn't make finals.

and i personally think that sometimes this website completely sucks the fun out of show choir with all it's analyzing and negativity.

I mean seriously, if your group did really well at a competition, the last thing that you would want to see is a bunch of people commenting on how "it doesn't make any sense" or "it wasn't deserved."
way to kill a happy mood.

Let Hurricane be happy with what they got.
Let Edgewood be happy with what they got.

and move on.

Where have you place ahead of Teays? You have to be consistent every year at every competition to be put on one of the upper tiers.
He is referring to St. Clairesville 2007 daytime. Edgewood was ahead of Teays going into the finals and then Teays beat Edge by 2 in the finals

For me I've really only seen Edgewood place higher at more recent competitions. I'm excited to see where this leads with a new choreographer. . Anyone remember the penguin move ('Crocodile Rock') from 2004?

This really isn't necessary. I'm from Edgewood, all three years of my time in the group we have worked extremely hard. With our competition show complete at competitions we placed in finals 13 times in the past three years. We have come extremely close to winning GC many times, yet we are still underrated. I'm not exactly sure why that still occurs.

We have placed ahead of Garfield Heights, Teays Valley, and many other marvelous groups several times. Yet, when it comes to greatness Edgewood is always put in the last tier from Ohio.

As for the guy that is from Eagle Express... let it rest bud. Edgewood's competition season is over, there is no use to defend what happened on one given day in the world of show choir.

It would be nice for Edgewood to recieve the respect other groups get, but that just isn't going to happen yet.

I'm no longer affiliated with Brush so why does it matter? Let's hear where you're from since you're clearly not from Edgewood or anything. I, atleast affiliate myself with a realistic choir. I would LOVE to know how I was bashing Edgewood! Since then you're just simple form of entertainment!

i dont even go to edgewood but
i think rian from 'brush' needs to stop bashing edgewood. Edgewoods amazing and i dont even go there and judging by the fact that brush was an all girls group last year he should prolly shut his mouth.

an fyi for you people who thought edgewood didnt have a chance at lebanon heres what they won:...

- best vocals ( over everyone!)
- grand champs of their class
- judges choice award for the opener!
- and 3rd place over all!!

so lets hear what brush won this year or should i say what they DIDNT win.

I don't know... i'm unconnected to all of these choirs so i don't really care what happened...

If that was Finke on the youtube recording he should be banned from competitive show choir and the judge in question saying "oh yeah, if it was just .5 or a point sure..." all that nonsense should be as well. Obviously it'd be hard to "ban" someone from something that isn't a nationally organized sport, but atleast boycott them...

From what i've seen of edgewood and twinsburg this year i would have NEVER predicted this turnout...
